Does the Suhr Aldrich sound better in mahogany or alder?

I'm sure it sounds good in both, but just wondering what you guys prefer it in? Just curious.

When i get my LP set up i'll let ya know.. because i had it in my Alder GMW and its now going in my 78 LP Custom!

I swapped the Aldrich out of my GMW and im now using an Anderson H3 which suits this guitar way more I know the Aldrich was designed for LP's, so im guessing it suits mahogany better.. but it didnt sound bad at all with alder

I've played it in basswood and maple/wenge, so I am of no help, whatsoever. However, it sounded great in both!

Glad you are liking the H3, Anderson makes some nice pickups

I liked the Aldrich so much in my LP standard that I have one on order for my '73 LP custom. I am going to change the tone pot to a push pole so I can split it on my LP custom. The Aldrich does split well....

I think you're the first person to say they don't like that pickup. The world must be nearing it's end.

i've got them in 3 deferent mahogany guitars, and gonna take it out of one of them, just doesn't fit that particular guitar.

What is the overall opinion of the Aldrich set? from what Ive heard, the Bridge is like a JB done right.... I have a custom in the bridge of my main LP and I think that the Aldrich Bridge would be just what the Dr ordered..

I love 'em. Have the set in an Alder superstrat and my Edwards Sykes LP. The bridge has a ton of output and yet retains clarity even on high gain amp settings. You can hear every note ring clearly if you arppegiate an open chord and let it ring at a high gain setting. It cleans up very nicely if you roll off the volume... The neck is very rich sounding at high gain settings. These are great high output pickups.

I will say that I love the Duncan Custom 5 bridge quite alot too and I'm glad I have enough guitars to be able to use them as well. There is something about the control I get with that pickup that I really like.

For VH tone - Vic's Mojave bridge is hands down the best I've tried.

For straight strat tone - Lollars are it for me.

No Bro, that was great. Im lacking in my bridge pickup for sure and Im going to install a sustainiac driver/pickup in the neck so thats pretty much a moot point...

I know 2 people who had and Aldrich and hated them. They are using pickups from WCR, Lundgren and Motor City now. The Lundgren M-6 is nice, but I really want to check out a Motor City Solution.

I bought it from the hype on hear, and in the end it wasnt for me. I now use BKP VHII in both my strats and they sound wicked good.
