Does this neck look warped to you?

Or am I just paranoid? Up by the first fret it looks a little twisted to me but I don't have the best eyes and don't really work on guitars too much.

Only way to tell is look at it end to end [flat].

Actually after closer look it seems a slight clockwise twist at the nut.

Yeah, it does look it to me. Like the first few frets appear to have a twist. Clockwise like you said.

I really want to buy the guitar but idk man. I've been dealing with shady people left and right so I wanted to post here to see what more experienced people thought.

I've only recently started adjusting my own neck and idk I'm just not that well versed with luthery. Hard to tell for me.

Tough to tell but flamed or BE Maple is about the most unstable neck wood out there. Really have to be cautious with it. It can do some crazy seasonal things also. I had one that was fine until it god cold. Then it would twist under string tension. Take the strings off and it was fine.

Damn that sucks. That's probably the coolest looking neck I've seen and really wanted one.

So was yours fixable or once it warped it's done for?

Looks weird from that pic, for sure. I'd ask for more from different perspectives to double check.

You could pull the frets and have the board leveled in a jig that simulates string tension (strap that pulls on the headstock). I had to have this done to a very annoying Strat neck that developed humps under tenson that weren't there with the strings off.

A maple board just makes that process more expensive.

These guys can fix ANY warped neck without pulling the frets:

I had a gorgeous roasted birdseye maple neck from Musikraft that my tech told me was unusable and to kiss it goodbye. These guys fixed it in three weeks and it's still kicking ass. I think it cost me $150. If you love a guitar neck that has a warp or twist and absolutely don't want to replace it, these guys are friggin' amazing. My tech's mind was blow at how straight the neck was when we got it back...

It was not fixable. I had teh neck replaced on it and then sold it. The link Steve posted is your option. $75.00 for Eric's heat treatment and shipping is not much on just a neck if it's warped.

Go buy a wooden yard stick at Ace or Homedepot for 1$. Cut it in half at the 18nth inch mark and place it on edge along the neck on top of the frets with the strings still on the guitar. Ideally, you should have a small gap about the thickness of a B string around the middle of the fretboard (eight to 9th fret area). Test in the middle, between the D and G strings, on the treble side between the B and high E, and the bass side between the low E and A strings. It's a cheap and easy way to get a good idea what a neck is doing. When checking the treble side, if your neck has a clockwise warp at the nut, the ruler won't be touching any frets down at the nut, while it may still touch down by the nut when measuring on the bass side of the neck.

The entire neck looks like it is leaning to the right based on the way the guitar is sitting in the case. If this is a compound radius neck that could cause the issue that looks like it is happening in this picture. I have bought thousands of guitars in my life and sighted down that many necks too. No way I can tell ANYTHING from this picture.

I looked again. Look at the nut. It is sloping down at the same angle that the entire neck is.

Is the noise in my head bothering you? :D

No but it's not a compound radius. I asked for more pics from other angles and no reply so oh well. Not my guitar, just one I was considering buying.

;) funny.

I have had a string of not the best luck buying gear recently and just want to be cautious.

The guy did write me back today so I'll admit I'm a bit paranoid. He's going to send more pics and said its just the pic and that nothing is wrong with the guitar.

I really like the way it looks and was going to buy. I am glad however that a couple of you schooled me on bird's eye maple. Appreciate that and I wasn't aware.

I've got it narrowed down to this guitar, an LTD Elite M2 or a Fujigen Mythic.

Have him send a PP invoice listing that guitar is perfectly functional. Buy it and if the neck is screwed send it back.
