No, that isn't anything close to doom metal. More like this.

Disregard the bad 80's choreography....

I fucken love the tone in that song. As soon as I saw the thread title I visualised that song and cheesey video clip!

Listening back again- the guitar tone itself sounds pretty harsh on its on. The bass guitar itself adds a lot to the root of the overall sound. Still, I like it.

I love that headbangin' march going on at the end of that video.

sunn amps old guitars

you can't just say Sunn amps without saying a distortion/fuzz pedal at the same time. Sunn amps are bass amps that caught on with the drone metal crowd. A straight Sunn amp won't give you doom tone.
if u turn all knobs up it does pretty good

This is my kinda thread!

Amps setting wise I keep my Bass and Treble around 7-8 and my mids at 5. Like everyone said, any Marshall type amp boosted will work really well.

what sucks is im in the process of going from the death metal rig to a doom rig. at least my rev1 has a really nice full clean channel.

Brother my Rev1 works PERFECTLY for this! I keep my Sweep at 1 and my Presence at 2-3. It sounds really close to High on Fire's Death is this Communion ... esp like Rumors of War when he ran his Soldano and Green together. Though I did switch out my tubes for more of this style.

I love this style .. and this is what we play.

Are we talking about this:

or are we talking about something with cookie monster vocals?

Disregard the bad 80's choreography, just listen and browse the internet.
That Candlemass tune was the best shit I've heard in a long time. Fuckin' awesome!

God, the music scene used to be so great.

Don't say such nonsense. There is plenty of good music around these days, you just have to know where to look in order to find it, and it isn't the radio.
