You could use yellow jackets. I have a roadster combo and I use yellow jacks in the 50 watt sockets. (two middle ones) This lets you run el84s in the 50 watt mode in class A. (ends up being like 20 or 30 watts....way more reasonable) It's sound AMAZING! particularly the cleans. If you are a real metal guy it may not be your thing, BUT you can run it in the 100 watt mode as well. You end up mixing the el84s in class A with the 6L6s in class A/B. Sound familiar?.....simul-class anyone? Anyway, It works good for me and produces some of the best clean sounds I have ever heard. With the combo, you have to get the short yellow jackets and even then it's an ultra tight squeeze and the tubes (I think) still end up touching the cabinet. Maybe there is more room with the head.
