I'm looking for some sort of drum machine for my solo acoustic shows.... something I can tap with my foot and activate the beat. I can use a drum pad like M-audio Trigger Finger (which I own) and a laptop.....load the samples and BAM.....but I don't wanna cary all that, also I'd have to be able to trigger the loops with my feet.

does this exist?

What's nice about using a laptop with Garageband or Logic is that you can do more than drum tracks. You can do entire tracks without guitars and vocals. Keys, bass....etc.

I'm sure you can find some way to toggle through songs with some sort of foot pedal or just a pad close to you.

not really interested in recreating a "band" live. to me it's weird to be a solo performer and having an invisible band.

I just want a beat, simple beat for a couple of songs that are really groovy. The laptop idea is OK but I'd like to minimize the amount of shit that can go wrong. you have to set everything up, etc etc. I guess if I don't find anything I can go this route but I saw someone play a solo acoustic show once and he had this thing (couldn't see what it was, but it was no computer) that he kept pressing with his feet when he wanted to have a beat thrown in. Pretty cool....the beat with the acoustic guitar and only his voice sounded awesome

what about a looper - like that one girl was doing in that popular song (lotsa help... I know... lol!). You can build a beat by hitting differnt parts of your guitar then turn it on and off during your song?

Native Instruments Macshine! or for simple an Alesis sr20

this is interesting, specially since I have a Boss Loop pedal... I'll play with that later on and see if the "beat" sounds convincingly :D

this is the girl I was thinking of - I think this approach is really cool. She's got some other live vids that are cool too where she does lot's of stuff with the looper - this is pretty basic.
