DSL100 - G12T75's or V30's or Both?

I have a 2x12 cab that I use between my Bogner, Marshall DSL & JCM800, Egnater and Mesa heads. I recently did some more experimenting with the G12T75's and found that the DSL sounds better with G12T75's. I was thinking about putting either two G12T75's OR one V30 and one G12T75 in my 2x12 cab. I still want my cab to sound good with a variety of amps, but I'd like to get that sound with my DSL.

What do you think, are G12T75's as good all-around speakers as V30's or should I mix them?

The 75 and V30 mix is nice for the Shiva but I've always found the V30's a little too bright with my DSl and probably would be with the 800 as well. I'd go for greenbacks with all those particular amps.

I have two 4x12's and both are V30's/75's in an X-pattern. The 75's are tight and have good lows/highs while the 30's have an aggressive midrange that really cuts. I think it's the best of both worlds.

That said the Greenbacks sound killer too...

I don't think it would be a problem. The TSL combo comes with two different speakers. What I like about mixing speakers is depending on the venue you can mic a different speaker according to the acoustics of the room. Usually I mic the V30 since a 57 on a V30 is classic tone but there have been a couple times where it just didn't fit and I'd mic the 75. Either way you're still hearing the same thing on stage.

Both of these speakers can be found used all over the net for pretty good prices.

I said I think greenbacks sound awesome too but I don't know about in the 2x12. You'd only have 50 watts max and they have potential to be easily blown.

My vote still goes for the V30/75 mix. Its a really full sound. Lots of warmth and cut.

Sam did you X pattern your speakers or put 2 on top and 2 on the bottom?

I prefer G12T75's cabs with my Marshall DSL100 and TSL100. With v30's there are some midrangey honky buzz I can't dial out (especially in the TSL). It's so bad I hate the sound.

Well it's cheaper to replace 1 speaker than 2 so I'm going to swap a V30 out with a G12T75. Thanks for the help everyone.

I think you'll really like this. It warmed up my sound without actually "warming" it up I guess. That doesn't really make sense (haha) but it helped smooth the overall tone out while keeping all the bite and oomph.

Good luck. I think you'll like it

Thanks. Yep, I think it's going to do the trick. If not, I'm switching both speakers out for Celestion Golds.

My buddy has a dsl100 and he runs two 4x12's one with 75's and the other with 30's and you can actually here the speaker interact between certion frequencies I like the combo and if you look at the uber cab it is a combo of the two types of speakers.
