Dual Rectifier and VH4

Hi folks!
I'm a long time lurker who finally registered, and have a few questions that are a bit unclear. I have a multi-watt dual rectifier that I love. I'm in the process of hunting down a Diezel VH4, with not much luck yet. I notice that the VH4 has a thru, and the Dual Rectifier has a slave output. Is the VH4's thru a feature to let you chain amps together? Is this also what the Dual Rectifier's slave out is? Also, if you can chain the amps together with the thru or slave, would it be wise to go this route instead of an amp selector?

Thanks,
Kris

I tried the VH4 thru a couple times to another amp. Sounds pretty good, but you need to be careful. I forgot to turn the VH4 off standby and I turned the other amp off standby and I blew a preamp tube on the VH4. Other than that it seems like a good option to pair amps.

I see, thank you very much. It's something to keep in mind once I get the VH4. Is the thru on the VH4 direct, or does it go through some parts of the amp before it leaves the head?

The VH4 Thru jack is to connect to the input of another amp. There is some tone suck from the VH4 (in my experience loss of gain, umph, and high end). You can run both amps simultaneously or I think just the other amp (by muting the VH4). But if you want more control than that, you need something more sophisticated.

The Recto's slave is something else entirely. It sends the Recto's output at line level to an effects unit and/or another power amp (or mixer etc). It is not to connect to the front end of another amp.
