So as I recently mentioned, the Guitar Center closest to me is a morgue and the one an hour away has better gear, cooler staff, etc. Today was once again, an example of why I dig that store.

I was meeting up with family for an event today (yes it was cook a pizza outside on your head hot) and so I decided that since I had to drive an hour, might as well swing by that Guitar Center I like. I had planned on getting a bass preamp pedal and they actually had the one I wanted. Before I asked one of the staff to take it out, I decided to swing by the amp room.

There was an older guy in there playing really loud but sounded good. I just didn't want to open the door and make everyone deaf. When I looked thru the glass I saw a small Friedman head and figured it was the Pink Taco I had seen in there before. When he stopped playing to adjust some knobs, I went in and said "oh sorry, just wanted to see what that amp was behind you". Unbelievably, he wasn't even playing thru that and was playing thru a Fender combo beneath it.

The guy looks at the tag and says "JJ?" right when I see the logo and I say "holy crap!". He obviously looks at me confused. I said "oh man, I wonder if that is new?" and he explained about how it didn't have the blue used tag, etc. so I said, "I'm going to ask. If it is new I'm walking out with this right now". When I got back the guy was standing and as we were taking the amp out he was asking all types of questions like "so, this is a good amp?", etc. and we are all like "oh yeah!". It was like the guy found a big chunk of gold and didn't know what it was and thought it was a rock or something. LOL

When I was buying it, that guy came by again and was standing there looking down at the box and you could see it was like he was trying to figure out what the hell it was and why everyone was shitting themselves. This younger employee came by and said "oh man, getting the JJ Jr.? I loved playing that thing" and then the guy was dumbfounded again. LOL. As I was leaving with it, holding it, he just stood there as me and the employee kept going on and on. His face was the same look you would give someone if they just told you "your car is in the lake".

So didn't intend to get the amp today and thought I would be waiting awhile. Haven't had the chance to even play it yet but will give you guys a review of sorts when I do.

Nice snag. All of my GC's are morgues.

I have snagged a few things cheap from Sam Ash though. I have a good guy there.

I have a GC about 1/2 mile from my office. As soon as I read this, went searching through the GC website to see if the local store had one. Made a deal with myself that if they did I would buy it.

Nope. They have BE OD pedal and a Runt 20 combo.

Which GC are you near, Columbus?

Awesome amp! Completely love mine! Enjoy!

Yeah man, from the few licks I've played on it, blown away but I need to play more before I give it a Jerry Cantrell seal of approval thumbs up. LOL

Thanks all for the comments and know some are waiting for theirs, some are curious, and some already shred on one. :)

I still need a bit more time with it before a review of any kind but first impressions is this is a perfect amp for people in these categories:

- Want crushing tube tone but can't play loud in home/apartment
- Want Friedman tone but can't afford bigger amps
- Want recorded tube tone without needing cab, mic, etc.

This amp would be great for anyone but it is especially good for anyone in the scenarios above. :)

Cleveland. I lived in Columbus for 10 years and am familiar with that location also.

The GC on the West side of Cleveland has gone downhill big time over the past few years.

I got it at the Cincy one. Just wanted to make sure I didn't swipe it out from under your nose. LOL! Yeah, I've been to the Columbus one. If you are ever down east of Columbus in Heath, Ohio, there is a great store there. If I remember right it is "The Guitar Guys" or something like that. Mom and Pop store with some great stuff.

I always spend some time there and the Sam Ash around the corner when I get down there. They had a BE-100 and maybe a Dirty Shirley(?) the last time I was there, but it was last year some time.

Yep, they had both of those there for awhile! Oh yeah, the Sam Ash is pretty good there too.

It has been a year or two but I agree. GC and Sam Ash are usually pretty well stocked in Cincy. There is a similar situation on the East side of Cleveland. I don't get over the much but because they are in each others back yard, each store ups their game. The West side GC is pretty much the only game in town.

Awesome and congrats. I have wanted once since the first NAMM clips and I have not heard anything about this amp since that has made me no longer want.

I am barely playing these days and have sold off everything I own except one guitar and 1 cab. Was planning on picking this amp up just to have something. Those NAMM clips sounded incredible.

Yeah man, I'd say it is a great "1 amp" to have because it is simple, but has the only options a player needs. I mean, can go direct without a cab, can go into 8 or 16 ohm cab if needed, has a clean, BE, and JJ tones, and is 20 watts so not ridiculously loud.

Yep, I don't need more than 20w these days as long as it sounds good and can get mean. I typically just roll the volume for cleans anyway so idc about a clean channel.

I had a really nice pedalboard/preamp setup that sounded great and was enough for my needs but I would rather just have a real amp.
