Dumble gut shots

I'm no expert, but it looks like that amp needs some servicing before it's worth that kind of money.

most people that buy them probably don't even turn them on.

kinda looks like shit to me but I am no means an expert.

Being that its for sale by Savage Amps, out of MN I'd say its probably had a good check up. They are a boutique builder with a good reputation. I'm pretty sure Chris Cornell uses a Savage amp for his live rig, among others. They don't get too gainy but I've heard good things about the tone.

I was fully expecting to see a unicorn horn in there.

I had the same thought. I have never seen a guts shot of a Dumble. Thanks for posting

the wood grained tag board always cracks me up;

makes the work look cheap like an old motel room in Schenectady...

Its some kind of composite and for that time period was innovative.

Also there is charring along one of the large caps, some sort of meltdown at one time.

What gets me is the 4 ohm speaker out, im kinda short on 4 ohm cabs.

Reminds me of old Fenders.

I don't see anything i have to have.

That board probably smells like cork.  I'd shove a DOD death metal pedal up front and play some Slayer through that turd!

  I'd love to find one of those, or a 50s LP at a garage/estate sale someday. They would be for sale immediately. :D

Of course, I'd have to play them for a minute.....or 2....

Actually Dan, it appears to me, as if the caps at the beginning of the preamp had goop on them and someone took it off somehow. That's how I see it. That silver mica and the one orange drop look to have been cover at one time. You wouldn't leave a burnt up/charred cap or resistor in any amp for any reason...regardless of the pedigree. The transformer looks to be a Fender to me, hence the 4ohm tap. You could play and 8ohm cab into this with no problems.

I'd hate to think that one determined batch of termites could eat up $75,000 worth of amplifier board.

I'd rather have one from Ceriatone and call it a day. Same exact thing except you didn't get the luxury of a 400-pound sausage-fingered mouth breather dripping his crystal lattice drool all over every solder joint.

I saw the goop thats not it.

The big long orange cap 100uf 100V laying horizontal on the small board toward the edge of the chassis.

On the top edge of that small board there is black that looks like charring but IDK ? Why would that cap get that hot unless something fried.

I know amps run HOT at 4 ohms. Least thats been my experience.

that aint cutting edge, that's formica, seriously
Composite.

I said "Innovative" not cutting edge.

Personally Dumbles ain't my thing.

Did you know that if you buy a Dumble you have to sign a "non-disclosure" agreement never to show the naked Dumble secret sauce ?

Alexander will have you deported to a 3rd world country and forfeit all your assets.

Saw a Dumble combo recently that was listed for $90,000 so this one's a bargain.
