If this guy bids on any of your auctions you would be better off cancelling his bid.

I placed my Framus Cobra on eBay for $1200. I recieved a bid from him for that $1200 instantly and the auction closed Wednesday with him as the winner. I had swapped a few previous emails with him with no problem chatting about different gear he had purchased as I had seen he purchased a DC5 recently among other things.

Immediately following the auction I made numerous attempts to reach out to him after sending an invoice with shipping included (He lives in Victoria, Australia) For the Framus Cobra via USPS boxed in a 32x15x15" box at 60lb packaged weight, it came to $387.62 which I felt was pretty reasonable considering UPS and FedEx were both closer to $700 to ship to Australia. I even offered to refund whatever was left over if it ended up being cheaper...

I waited 36 for a response from him all while sending multiple emails to both his eBay account and personal email which he provided me with. I received no contact or payment from him until today when I reported him and cancelled the transaction. He started berating me saying I was trying to rip him off and was rude and uncooperative. He left me negative feedback and emailed me back saying I "fu**ed with the wrong guy"

Below are the first two emails I sent him. One to his personal and one to his ebay account...

Dear bready1986,

Hey Brother, just sent you the invoice. Was quoted $387.62 over the phone for shipping... IF it comes to it and the shipping ends up cheaper, I will refund you the difference. Just want to make sure we have all our bases covered. I have never shipped over seas so I just want to make this all go as smooth as possible. You have my email and phone number get a hold of me if you need to.

Hey bud just wanted to make contact with you through my personal email so we can get all the details and final transaction worked out so I can get this amplifier shipped over to you. Please get with me ASAP so we can make this work. Trying to be communicative and helpful but haven't heard from you yet.

Just beware when you are selling gear on eBay if you see this guy bid, CANCEL CANCEL CANCEL!

Is this guy even on RT or just eBay?
BTW, you shouldn't post his email address publicly IMO

he claims he is on "all the forums" didnt realize his email was still there, thought I left that out.

There's no such username on RT though, so it would be pretty difficult to find out who he is.
Also there's a buyer/seller feedback subforum for this type of threads

I never said he was a definite RT member. He claimed to be a member of all forums. Under what name, I am not sure. That is his eBay name. His feedback is private for a reason... 3 of his transactions have had issues. 2 of which were no pay no contact issues.

I didn't notice the section, my apologies there. If an admin wants to move it I would appreciate it.

I no longer sell on eBay but when I did it was US bidders only. Any bid but someone outside of the states was cancelled. Funny it never mattered how many time I mentioned US only I'd still get plenty of questions asking me to ship internationally.

Yes, forgot to say thanks for the heads up
Next time sell your amp on here, lots of good buyers ;)

Shawn, don't forget Canada next time :D

I don't have enough posts to sell here... My fault for browsing previously and not actually being an active member... oh well

Only 30 more to go, just participate in a few threads and you'll get to 50 in no time

Its pretty easy to tell when a buyer is not going to pay. I will send one email if he has not paid within three days or so. If he does not respond, I send him another email letting asking him know that if there are any problems we can just cancel the transaction and I will relist it. I ask the buyer to please agree to the cancel transaction link I will send him. If he does not respond to that, I send the link. After one more day I call Ebay and ask for a credit.

The thing is, we were chatting and bs-ing back and fourth about gear DURING the auction. I had no indication he would be a deadbeat at all. We discussed a DC5 he purchased cause I am looking for a small combo amp because my current rig requires a large truck or trailer just to move and I had sold my Framus Ruby Riot (stupid move) so I was looking for something to jam on and he had suggested the 6505 112 or a JCA20 with 2x12 cab or even a DC5 or DC3...

When he didn't pay I was honestly SHOCKED and EXTREMELY ANGRY. I had a JVM410H lined up that I planned to buy as soon as payment cleared and had to back out after the guy had passed up on 2 other buyers to sell to me... Probably my mistake there, but still absolutely ridiculous.

Having owned the Dragon and Cobra, I can say I'm really NOT a Framus a fan at all

That being said, I think some people are just scared of confrontation
The guy flaked out on you for some reason, but was just too scared to tell you upfront so he ran and hid. I HATE that. I had a deal lined up like that once, the guy just stopped answering, I sent him emails to please just SAY the deal is off, that I didn't mind (people change their mind) and that it bothered me a lot more that he didn't reply to let me know what was going on... never got an answer back

The Framus is a weird animal... It took me 2 years to finally understand how the controls worked. They don't work like a Marshall which I think is a fail on their part but at the same time once I figured it out and got this thing dialed in I can say very honestly that NOTHING can compete with it in my experience. I've had a Diezel VH4, Mesa Roadster Road King, Cobra, 5150II FJA modded, JCM800s JCM2000s and nothing in my eyes can touch this for Metal... but that's just it... It's for METAL and my tastes have changed. I am hoping someone out there is interested in one...

same here. plenty enough problems shipping to the lower 48, don't even want to think about what could happen between here and Aussie land.
and you're right about the insistance on shipping internationally, fonts 2 feet high, in flashing red, the first thing in a listing- still, "what would it cost to ship this to Katmandu?"

Some people just don't know how to read english... Hell some people in the USA don't know how to understand english either LMFAO

I know some people that share your opinion
You really have to crank the channel volume control on the gain channel to get it going
Even by doing that, it lacked something for me
Also, the build quality (didn't look at the PCB) is pretty bad, headshell felt like a cardboard box, pots felt cheap, etc.
I haven't heard of realiability issues though, hopefully the PCB is better than Engl amps
