Theres also an extremely thin primer/sealer that has no appreciable thickness to it. I wonder if this could have been a factory repaint over a previous finish?Jackson/CharvelFan":1plnj71w said:rupe":1plnj71w said:I would normally think that to be the case based on the mutiple finsh layers that are easily seen at the edge of the neck. All of my Rands have extremely thin finishes...nothing close to as thick as what's shown in these pics. That said, the paint job looks like a Rand Havener original so I'm a bit perplexed on this one.BrokenFusion":1plnj71w said:I would think that is a refinish. No?
I think that the cracking and the lifting of the finish is making the finish look thicker than it is. Looks like this one was exposed to the cold and heat cycles. Like being stored in an outside storage unit. That would probably explain the rust as well. I wonder if the seller has the facory case?
You are right about the thickness this one may be a refinish. I thought most of these were a base coat white or black then what ever colors. The blue 89 I had had white then blue then purple then pearl then clear and it would change color. The bidding has broke $1000.00 for this one. That is alot for this condition.
