Anyone have one? Good guitar? It looks like it has a lot of cool features as well as being made of 3 different woods. I've never been into the John Petrucci guitars as I don't like basswood, bit this one intrigues me. I might be interested in getting a non-Charvel for once.

Have you played one? I have a 2007 BFR JP6. Necks are VERY thin. Feels thinner than my Ibanez prestige and wizard necks. Tone is amazing. Thickest tone of all my shredders. Closest is my 2001 Gibson LP classic. I really like the feel of the bridge under my palm. If you're used to Charvel necks I would really recommend playing one first.

Also, JP's (with the BFR inlay at the 12th fret), including JPX's are alder, not basswood. They also feature a mahagony tone block. JPX's are the only model that is chambered.

I'll add the new JP12 has basswood inplace of the alder. I believe the necks on these are mohogany with ebony boards. I have a JP6 BFR and play the hell out of it. Love mine!!!

Here is a cool video of the JPX

I have one exactly like this one.
I have a BFR Cherry on order. I also have a roasted neck one (black sugar).
The basswood does not sound as thick as the alder IMHO.

I love those guitars.
