Like grooveHT, I have big hands as well.....and I actually prefer a 1 5/8 nut width too, which is found on most EBMM guitars (except for the Petrucci, which is 1 11/16). A lot of people seem to prefer wider string spacing, but I found for whatever reason, that more narrow works best for me. Many also seem to believe that if you have big hands, that you automatically should be better suited for a 1 11/16 nut width. But, look at Guthrie Govan for example....he's got fairly large hands and tends to play guitars with a 1 5/8 nut width the majority of the time. So, I really believe this to be a misconception among many players. Another reason I like EBMM's necks is for their neck carves.....they're not too thick (love the Morse & Axis neck carves)....more on the thinner side. The Petrucci is a fine guitar, but the main two reasons why I no longer own one is because I later found the neck to be too thin and too wide for my tastes. One issue that I do have with them, is that they generally use a more "vintage" fingerboard radius on most of their models (with the exception of the Petrucci). If the Axis had the same neck carve, but with a 14" or 16" FB radius....and preferably jumbo frets.....it'd be perfect I believe! I do however like some of the more vintage qualities on the Luke.....they just seem more appropriate for it. And, I'm beginning to develop GAS for a LUKE III the more I see these videos!
