I've seen that one and a few others before , fun listen. I would say that their native language became English though as both are better in English than dutch. My mom is a dutch immigrant who came over when she was 12, she's kept it up with her family in Holland through the years but the dutch were huge on adopting English when they came to the US or Canada. They are practical that way. Alex speaks it better than Ed to my ear though but again, he was older so would ha e grasped more before coming over...but that interview is just small talk bullshit lol.

You know what's weird? The minute they got to Canada my grandfather pretty much said no more dutch in the house, we only speak english because we aren't in Holland anymore. So the family had to speak broken english to each other initially before obviously all the kids went to school and learned it in no time. That's the practicality right there. English rules let's be honest!

I've always had an issue with people abandoning their native culture in-favor of another. I get the "when in Rome" thing, but there's just something about cultural assimilation that saddens me. Your family chose to keep their heritage alive, and that (IMO) is to be commended.
