What is the difference, if any, between some Ewards models that end in 92 and ones that are 125 or 130? Been looking at Edwards LP's on ebay and they all look identical.

As I understand it, the numbers reference pricing at that time.

I also read that the ones based on Custom models are a cut above the Standards. I played a Sykes model and it did feel of superior quality to my two Standards. My Standards are still great guitars though.

Love my Edwards LPC 92.

I own about 6 Edwards. I also own about 13 Gibson Lp's. For the money, you get a lot of guitar with the Edwards.

It is pretty cool. I bought the Sykes model and loved it so much that I bought a number of Edwards with in a 5 month period.

-I've been looking at Edwards Less Paul's, couple questions for you guys,

-are they all solid bodies-(non chamberd?)-
-long tenon?
-one piece back?

-if I could get all of the above I would get a gold top asap!!

Are the Edwards explorers any good compared to the Standard Series?

Edwards are made by ESP.
www.espguitars.co.jp

They are a very nice alternative to a Gibby Production guitar.

If you want to get into the Gibby Historic range, you
have to go with ESPs Navigator series.

Most Edwards I've seen
have been
1 piece african mahogany back (sometimes 2piece)
1 piece mahogany neck (Medium C shape)
Tightly fit long neck tenon
Indian rosewood fretboard (Ebony on the LPC replicas)
Carved 2 piece plain maple tops (figured tops are a figured veneer over the plain maple carved top)
Gotoh bridge and tuners.
Real Duncan pickups.
Synthetic mop inlays. (I actually like them more then the Gibby MOT inlays)
Medium jumbo frets.
Poly finishes (Lacquer Taste series have a lacquer final coat over a poly finish)

I have the Edwards E-LP85CD- John Sykes Custom replica.

I'm very impressed with the fit and finish of the guitar.
Frets were perfect.
Plays and feels great.
Tone is more agressive because of the Duncan Distortions.
So, it's more geared towards metal.
Classic rock, you want to look at the regular 85CD or 90LTC series.

The Edwards are very competative against the Epiphone Elitist or Tokai LP85 and and again a very good alternative to the Gibby Production guitars.

They are made on the same assembly line as the ESP Standard series.
Final dressing and setup are done on line.
Where as the ESP Standards are done by another group.
But, as I said, my frets were perfect on my Edwards.

For me, I'm not a fan of nitro finishes.
They just get too sticky and grimey feeling on me too quickly.
So, the Edwards was the perfect alternative for me with it's poly finish.

Depending on what you are looking at $500- $900. I have seen used ones as high as $1100. But those are usually the all Lacquer and have pickup upgrades. I get many of mine in the $600 range.

I've read that the Edwards bodies are cut in a China factory that ESP purchased and are supervised by ESP personal at the site. And the also it's not African Mahoganey but from South East Asia, that's why it's lighter but without being chambered. And the final installation of hardware, electronics, frets, etc are all installed at the ESP factory in Japan. Do it that way and you can claim Made Japan when in reality the wood was cut by employees working for a much lower wage in China to help keep the cost down.

That's badass. Did it come in that cream or was it originally white and faded over time? A new Gibson LP Custom is close to 5k! 5 fucking thousand dollars. Gibson has made up my mind for me if I want a Custom.
