Thinking about setting all my effects up to go through the front of the Quick Rod to eliminate a few cables.

My question or thoughts are these. How little gain do I need to run on the amp for reverb and delay to NOT sound crappy. Also, how different will the amp sound using other pedals? I love the sound if the Quick Rod. I would probably run Gear 2 which would also allow me to not need the footswitch. I could assign one loop on my Rocktron Loop8 to switch from clean to dirty or just roll back.

Thoughts on what OD/Drive pedal would work well?

I used to run all pedals, including dely, up front for the same basic reason and I use a Bad Monkey for boost because it is a tad less color than a tubescreamer and has more EQ'ing capability. I also run Gear 2. I had sinced moved my Reverb, Delay, EQ and Chorus to the loop but now may go back to upfront because I picked up a RectOverb and don't feel like buying Loop splitter :D

Hope that helps, but otherwise consider it a free bump.

Well, after consideration, I'll probably keep the mod/time based effects in the loop. I have recently discovered fuzz pedals and was trying to keep the set up smile, but at the end of the day, I guess hooking up a few extra cables doesn't really take much more time.

Cool.

I wasn't sure exactly what you were looking for. Again, for what it is worth the time based effects (delay and phaser at least) sound pretty good up front.

The top row of pedals here I currently run in the loop and the bottom row are out front for me - except I now have my Wah back, which sits where the MXR OD is.

I see now you have a different application than I and I don't gig so the whole just sits there in one place all the time :D

carbon copy might work well out front... haven't had much luck myself though with my "tape" settings on the flashback or DE-7 or any of the BOSS digital stuff. In fact, I don't know how Lynch does it because he apparently runs his effects all out in front of the amp and his tone live seems pretty good live. I think verb and delay just sound more natural and less in your face when in the loop.

So here's what I have right now:

• MXR ZW90
• MXR Analog Chorus
• TC Hall of Fame Reverb
• EHX Memory Toy Delay
• Dunlop CFH Wah

I am looking at the Dark Arts Pharoah and Blackout Effectors Blunderbuss for fuzz pedals and MXR BAOD or ZW Overdrive for additional flavors.

I just got the Rocktron Floor8 and I'd like to not have to sacrifice loops on it for channel switching. I only use delay for leads generally but am writing a lot more clean stuff.

Here's my "work in progress" board ...
