My apologies if this should be more directed towards the "Effects forum", but every amps different and thought I'd start a thread about what all effects pedals you guys are running, or think sound best to you in the Friedmans loop and out front. I know every Friedman amp I've played sounds great without effects and some probably don't use pedals (or rack units), but I love delays, verbs, chorus, overdrives, LOVE octave pedals, and clean boosts with amps that take pedals well, and Friedmans seem to really enjoy effects.

I'm sure most all effects sound great with Friedman amps, but theres a couple pedals that I'm i the market for and need a little assistance from those who have tried several pedals. From my experience so far I've liked most analog effects I've tried with the BE100, but I'm running a Timeline delay in the loop and it's there to stay ( it's analog & digital circuitry), but I'm not real happy with my Hall of Fall verb or my OCD pedal. You can post pics if you want but doubt we'll have enough Rigtalkers interested in the thread, ha.

So for reverb what are you guys using in the loop?
What Clean Boosts & OD pedals are smoother than the OCD? (which I love on most amps but the BE100 seems to bypass it)
A big one is finding a Chorus pedal. Wish I could afford Retro-Sonic.
Last but not least is a good straight up octave pedal. Have an Foxrox Octron inbound solely on Doug Rappoport's killer demo of the BE and the Octron, so taking a gamble since I rarely buy gear without demoing first but we'll see soon.

*Overdrive: Was thinking of something like a Suhr Kookoo Boost or something that cuts nicely with both ch's.
*Chorus: the Providence Anadime Anolog Chorus or a similar chorus.
*Reverb: Looking for a great natural warm reverb that sounds good clean and overdriven. I do like the WET with a clean Deluxe Reverb but not sure I'd like it with the BE100.

So in your own opinion, what's done it for you guys with these effects I'm looking for with your Friedman amp?

Delay in Loop. I use a Timefactor. I also have an MXR/CAE boost running at 18v in the loop for Solo boost.

Everything else in front. Whirlwind Phase 90, Wah, flanger, Zvex SHO if I need a bit of rhythm boost.

Well the Octron is amazing with the BE100. Takes a little bit to dial in the sound since every amp responds different to this pedal but now that I've got it set it's just a beast of a pedal with the best analog tracking I've heard. Really glad I got the Oxtron over the POG. I'm sure in a band mix it kills and can't wait.

Now for a Reverb and Chorus pedal. Like I said, the Hall of Fame sounds decent but I'm wanting a warmer more organic reverb, and chorus.

Any suggestions would be nice. Preferably the chorus to be a stereo pedal.

I've been quite happy with the MXR Analog Stereo Chorus, although I haven't yet used it in stereo mode. It has a large range of control and that classic analog sound. Biggest downside is it is a large pedal. I actually have it mounted sideways on my board due to that.

I have not tried the effects loop on my SB50 but perhaps will this weekend!

I'm sure you'll be extremely happy with the Friedman effects loop. As far as I know they all have the same type Metro "Zero Loss" loop. Somebody might chime in and correct me, but it's pretty much the same as Metro's, which from what I've heard is the best in the business.

As far as chorus pedals, MXR has always made a killer chorus I think. But your right, I wouldn't be able to fit on my board since I'm using a PT2. I just had to redo my whole board last night just to fit the Foxrox Octron on there.

I've been gassin to try a koko boost in front if anybody has tried this out lemme know how it is

I've played Fuzzyguitars' Cantrell with a Klon, Koko Boost, EVH flanger, script 90, Wilson Wah and a FUKKKING BAD A$$ Cali76 TX-P into the front...and an AD999 Pro in the loop..
Day-um...those clean boosts + awesome sustain into the Cantrell KILLS.
Every note RINGS out...plus the tones already inside the Friedman are so inspirational.
I think I played that for over 2 hours...

Hardwire DL-8 in loop and Rockett Archer out front...

I use a GmajorII. It's great but remember to set the levels to consumer instead of pro.
I find that if you don't do that, it actually affects the tone for some reason.

I rarely use any effects through the fx loops besides an old Boss GE 10 band EQ because I like running my Friedman amps master high(and gain low) with an attenuator that has a line out. I use the line out with an RJM mixer and for effects I use an Axe Fx 2 into a Mesa Boogie 2 90 driving a Marshall stereo cab loaded with Scumback M75 and another Marshall loaded with Scumback BH75 for the Friedman for a Wet/ Dry /Wet system. If there's room, I'll bring a 3rd Marshall cab with H75's. For the front end, I use either a Koko boost, OCD, Fulltone mosfet drive 2, Riot reloaded, Green Rhino and a 10 band MXR eq or a Furman PQ3 for boosting the front end. I'm happy with just the MXR 10 band EQ or the PQ3 in front of the amp since my Friedman amps have a ton of gain, I like how an eq colors the distortion giving me a heavier and more focused tone.

Just got a koko boost in front. Really kicks ass. Great combo. Hardwire delay in the loop. That's all for now

Using a Koko boost in front, along with Crybaby Classic, Phase 90, and a Timmy for od on the clean channel.
Vox DelayLab in the loop for delay and looping. Thinking about adding a Neunaber Seraphim.
Oh yeah, this is on a JJ100, but would be the same on the BE100.

Pretty much anything I put either in front or in the loop of my BE worked great. Boosts, ODs, delays, modulation ... etc.
Right now I'm rockin' a PT Nano with Tuner, Dry Bell Vibe, Rockett Archer and Maxon AD-9 Pro all in front and works/sounds amazing.

In the Loop = Ancient Boss DD-3 delay and a Creation Audio Mk.4.23 (slight volume bump for leads).

Out Front = Area51 wah, Voodoo Labs Analog Chorus (used for leslie sim), Korg Pitchblack tuner and Lovepedal Eternity.

I don't have the BE-100 anymore but used the same pedalboard with my Naked.

OD/Boost: KokoBoost has been my fave, old TS-808, or Boss EQ (both 7 and 10-band sounded great)
Chorus: Meistersinger or CE-2
Phase: Whirlwind or MXR EVH or Script

I've heard the Koko Boost with a BE-100 and it sounded amazing. Of course I've never heard a bad tone from that pedal with any amp. I've been trying to find a deal on a Suhr OD pedal like the Koko for awhile. I'd trade my OCD and Timmy for the Koko.

Right now my favorite effects with my BE100 is the Paul C Timmy for a very tight articulate liquid solo and after hearing a clip of the FoxRox Octron I pulled the trigger on one and it sounds amazing and monsterous. Also really like the Mobius in front and effects loop (pre/post mode). Timeline still best modern production delay I've ever heard, but thried an early Boss DD-3 that sound great too.

I'm GAS'in for a KOKO BOOST!!

Mobius>koko>Ts9 (or a Riot). Out front.
Volume pedal>Barber tonepress>ISP>Timeline>BigSky. In the loop
I realty need to try a eq pedal in the loop and out front.

I never hear much about people using a compressor in the loop. I love it. Mainly use it on clean tones as it makes everything sound bigger and fuller. Works great for a volume boost for solos too. The Barber has a blend knob. My secret is to keep it between 12 and 1 o'clock anything past 1 and it gets way too squishy. My theory is that it's like adding post compression the studio. I have no experience with recording but makes sense to me and I dig it.

As for reverb if you have the money get a Bigsky or Bluesky. You know how good that Strymon Timeline is. I've liked the demos of the WET but never tried one. Hardwire's supernatural and TC's trinity always looked very tempting too.

Last thing, I can tune the Riot very very similarly to the koko. I think you'll like any of the Suhr OD/boost pedals. Shiba, Riot or Koko.

I use a Tone Press in the front end sometimes. Never thought of using it in the loop. I'd be afraid of adding too much noise.
I usually keep the blend knob between 11-12 oclock. I might give it a shot.

Comps add noise anywhere for me, loop or front end. That's why I have the ISP after it. I'm not a huge fan of compression before gain stages unless it's Fender clean.
