Ok, so as long we're dreaming here, would an import version of a four-channel Egnater preamp SELL? I know rackmount gear isn't the most popular right now, but everything comes back around eventually.
A fixed-channel (non-modular) preamp like this:
1) Tourmaster Channel 1 (pristine clean)
2) Renegade Channel 1 (fatter clean/OD)
3) Renegade Channel 2 (distortion)
4) Tourmaster Channel 4 (or the new 'Armageddon'? distortion) (high-gain distortion)
That seems pretty well-balanced, but would there be a market for it? (aside from myself, of course) Considering you'd have to get a power amp for it, and there would be no onboard reverb, it would be different enough to fill a niche and not overlap what's already out there (of the import stuff). Also, since there is the Rebel 20, Rebel 30, Renegade and Tourmaster, why not have a preamp too?
At the time, the Rocktron IE4 looked awesome, but I didn't have the $$$ to swing for a new rig.
Just sayin'
