Up for grabs is a 20W Egnater "Boutikit" amp. This amp was designed by Bruce Egnater and was built my me. I bought this parts kit just to see and hear the hype and to learn a few of Bruce Egnater's secrets. The parts kit cost $950 plus shipping, and I'm asking $700 (plus shipping) for the fully assembled chassis complete with a full set of tubes and footswitch (for boost).
Amp features:
2x6V6 power amp
4 12AX7 tubes
Tube-driven effects loop
Foot-switchable boost
Custom Heyboer power and output transformers
Top-notch components throughout
I put the amp in an oversized head shell for a photo op (notice the quarter-inch gap above the chassis). The head shell doesn't come with the amp, but it might give you an idea of what the amp might look like with a $200 cab.
On the fence?
If you purchase the amp and then don't dig it, you can return it for a full refund within 10 days. You just need to pay the return shipping fees and pack the amp very well (ideally, the box I use could be re-used).
The front panel has two different functions labeled boost. One is a variable boost that comes on after the tone stack and effects loop. This one is also foot-switchable, so it is ideal for solos. The other is a fixed (but switchable) boost that comes on after the first gain stage. It affects the amount of preamp gain quite a bit, so you can have a vintage mode or a more modern mode.
Overall preamp gain and structure is like a maxed-out modded 2204.
- Ever hear of the Egnater TOL (Tone of Life)? The preamp in this boutikit is very similar to a TOL (values of a few parts are different).
- reminder: the parts board bares a resemblance to the boards in the Friedman Smallbox (and probably other models in the USA lineup). That's because Bruce Egnater designed 'em all.
Because of the Photobucket crack down on 3rd party hosting, none of your pictures (in either thread) are visible. If you re-posted them, it might help. Just a "heads-up"
