This is a quick recording of my guitar rig. There are flubs a plenty, and my guitar was a bit out of tune! Recorded it so people could hear the different tones you can get with an Egnater M4. Was recorded w/ a Zoom Q3 video / audio recorder in my basement "man cave." ;) I say "Egnater M75s" are the speakers I used...but it's SCUMBACK M75s ;)

One comment on volume differences between the EG5 and EG3/4X. I have my patch for the EG3/4X to be +3dB solo boosts. That's why when I go from the EG3/4X to the EG5 it's quieter.

Thanks so much for posting this, im pretty sure im going to need another M4 after hearing these modules. Great tones!!

I really need to get the DLX and a VX. That sounds good.

Sounds good Eric
Love that wild thing you did at the end. Was that the filter pro?

I just got a Q3 as well and have messing around with it. It's a cool little recorder.

Yeah. That was a mix of the filter pro....(which gave the nasally sound)...and the FoxRox Octron octave pedal. Guitar was on the middle single coil.

Clips sound GREAT eric... I tell ya, in a lot of ways, a good, raw video like this can really give you a sense of what a module sounds like.

EG34x sounds great, as usual. ;)

Great job Eric!

You really have a good handle on your tones.

If you get a chance could you give a description of the tones you are switching through. I know you are narrating in the video, but it doesn't come through.

Thanks,
Neil

Edit: Never mind the descriptions, I got creative with the volume on the computer and I can hear them now.

What are mic eliminators?

Yeah...the mic on the Q3 came down in gain a lot since it got "clipped" on the first clip of the DLX...so it went down drastically. Should have spoke more into the mic ;)

Mic eliminators are not used in this clip...but they are a filter that Bruce developed and Randall is using in their cabinets to get a good mic'ed tone....w/o having to use mic's. They are on the back of 2 of my speaker cabinets. Need to add one to my 4x12 sometime. I use them live instead of mic'ing... Great to use live...so I can get a consistent tone each night FOH. But I haven't been playing out lately...so I haven't had a need to put them in my 4x12. Not that I play w/ a 4x12 out much. I use the 4x12 for jamming at home ;)

I think I can hear where the EG3/4 comes in........I was expecting the EG3/4 X to be brighter and thinner on leads but this sounds thick and smooth. :)

Just turn your volume up when it gets quiet. I narrate what modules I'm playing...and what effects i turn on.

Thanks Eric, I'll check it out again. Funny, I really thought doing the 'X' mod would thin out the tone....but in reality, I just think it cuts in a band better....which is a good thing. I am the only guitarist in our group, but everything helps. I like my low mids, but I still hear some good low mids in your tone.

Why would the X mod thin things out? It's boosting upper mids....to make it thicker. It really has great tight low mids..and great thick syrupy upper mids. It's always what I wanted the EG34 to sound like from the beginning. It just LOVES Scumback M755s too :)

The "X" mod involves two parts: high-mids added for presence, and bass cut for tightness.

On the SL2x, both are utilized: the bass is cut to make it tighter, and the high mids are added.

On the EG3/4x, I leave the bass stock, but add the upper mids and lessen the stock EG3/4 treble cut.

The great part is that you can pick and choose what you want to mod.

That's right...no bass cut like the SL2X. It's ferocious on the low end. Great...tight low end...and amazingly ballsy low mids. But that thick syrupy upper mids...is just amazing..and just the right amount of bite IMHO.
