Which one of these amps do you think has the best lead tone....and why?

I've played a friend's Cornford and it sounded killer. I recently acquired a MOD50 and love the tones I'm getting out of it. I've never played an Ecstasy so I can't speak on that amp. Plus, I didn't really A/B the MOD50 and Cornford, so it's hard to compare from memory.

Most importantly, it's all opinion. My "best lead tone" my be another person's most disliked one. I'm very happy with the MOD50 for rhythm and lead tones. Why? The MOD50 has what I like to call "clean dirty." I've played the SL2 and Erect modules with gain to 10 - and they rock for sure - but the sound / play / feel still feels crisp and clear. I can hear every note ring out. For leads, the MOD50 has a nice "fat" tube sound.

The way you described the Mod50...would you say the same about the Cornford?

I didn't play the Cornford enough to say the same about it. It sounded great for the 15 minutes I did play it. As many other fellow Rig-Talkers, I'm going through my excited "mod" phase. It may last. Or I may get other rigs later. So far, I'm very pleased with my MOD50.

I love how you can change your entire rig's sound by changing mods.
