Hey guys,

I'm new to the board and looking for a bit of advice.

I've recently upgraded my Rebel 30 head to a Renegade head, and I'm loving this thing. The tones and the versatility are awesome. I'm running it into a 2x12 and am delighted with it.

Only one thing that bothers me and that is the fan noise of it. I know the fan is required to cool the tubes, but I feel this in an excessively noisy fan. You don't just have the fan noise, like a computer fan, or even the fan of an xbox, but on top of that what sounds like a constant buzzing noise.

I've searched the forum and found people with this problem but also people that have quieter fans. So I'm a bit confused as to what the case should be.

Should I be looking for a new fan from Egnater or what?

If anyone can be of any assistance I'd very much appreciate it as I love this thing!

Cheers,

Dale

I don't know...With mine, the fan noise is like a PC fan,no buzzing noise. At night, alone in the room,it's still a problem, though. But i'm getting used to it (kind of..would still love to get rid of it)..Some people here were successful at upgrading theirs (buying a better fan).It looks like the buzzing is coming from a simple mechanical friction and would be easy to repair.Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I've e-mailed Nate using that e-mail address Bruce. Thanks.

It's definately a constant buzz when the fan is on. It's loud enough to drown out the sound of an xbox - I can say that as I had both on at the same time in my room. And the fan on the xbox isn't exactly the quietest to begin with.

How long does Nate usually take to reply? Really want to sort it as I actually on got the amp on Friday so it's only 3 days old.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

Dale

I had this problem too. Nate got with me very shortly after I contacted him. Once he was sure who I was and that I owned the amp, he forwarded me a new fan and a little kit for installing it. It basically solved the problem.

The fan isn't whisper quiet but that mechanical buzz is gone and the fan is not audible on stage with normal/quiet room noise.

I'm satisfied.

Thanks for the info hbucker. I e-mailed Nate and he said he'd send a fan, but when I asked how to send proof of purchase and that I owned it etc he told me to go back to the shop I bought it from in the UK.

How did you prove that you owned the amp etc? I feel going back the shop won't hugely speed up any process in getting a new fan which this requires.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

Dale

Send them a copy of your receipt. That's what I did. If you don't have that (ALWAYS keep your receipt!) get in touch with the place you bought it from. They should be able to give you a new copy.

Agreed.

This may be more of an international issue than a proof of purchase issue. I don't know.

Good luck.

Are we talking about sending it through just standard mail? I thought it might have been resolved quicker by scanning a copy of the receipt and sending it through by e-mail?

If I go to the shop I bought it from they aren't going to get the fan to me any quicker. And I know for a fact that the guys in the shop will struggle to hear it as the shop is pretty noisy, and if they do hear it they'll tell me to e-mail Egnater anyway.

What do you guys think? Scan a copy and send it through by e-mail?

Thanks again for your assistance, I'm really appreciating it!

That's what I did. The fan kit came a week or so later.

OK, I've just scanned the reciepts from the shop and sent them through to Nate via e-mail.

I hope I get a reply and that they send the fan out here. It's a huge inconveniance for me to try to get to the shop I got it from so for them to send a fan direct to me, instead of to the shop, would be a huge help!

I'll let you know how I get on guys!

Thanks again!

So what is the policy here? If the amp is still in warranty = new fan? Send receipt to Nate via email and he'll send a fan out?

My fan sucks - it's a joke. My buds give me crap for the extreme noise and it's distracting...

Send Nate an E-mail with a copy of you're receipt attached. That's a starting point.

Yeah, it is distracting. Mines has got a tiny bit louder I feel. Only a week old too.

So I scanned the receipts and sent them through to Nate by e-mail and he still told me to go to the shop in the UK I bought it from to deal with it as otherwise I'd have to pay for the shipping. Which I thought was odd, but I'm going to go to the shop and take the e-mail and see if they can help me. I know the guys in there so hopefully they will be helpful and help me sort what should really never be a problem in the first place.
