I'm new to the forum, looking forward to conversing with the group. I recently bought a Renegade 2X12 that has been fantastic thus far. This is my first tube amp and have a question about the power tubes. I have noticed that one set of the power tubes seem to glow brighter than the others. The power tubes on the right side of the board, EL34's I believe glow the brightest. Wondering if 6L6's just don't light up as much or if they are defective or something. I do get good sounds out of each of the side in the tube mix know so I don't think they are defective just different. Any feedback would be great as I want the best tone available from this amp. I just got a OCD pedal for a boost. Any recomended settings on the OCD would be appreciated. Thanks for any and all feedback.

Those are two different tube types, and as such they will glow differently. As long as the amp sounds good and no funny business is going on, you're fine :)

No personal experience with the OCD, but most guys run volume max, drive min (or very close to min), tweak the tone knob to taste for a "clean" boost.

Variable has the right idea. Different types of valve (tube) and different brands even will glow differently, don't be afraid if either set start to glow blue/purple, that's natural as well.

Do however worry if the 'plates' start to glow red, or if a white powdery substance seems to appear inside the valve, then they will need to be replaced. I hope this helps.

For the Fulltone OCD pedal, if running into a clean amp for a little breakup or an overdriven amp to push it a little harder, give nicer harmonics and tighten up the lows and bass frequencies, you'll want to max out the volume and have the gain on almost 0 or 0, adjust tone to taste. You won't see a huge volume increase because your gain is so low. You can adjust any of the settings to suite your preference but that's a good starting point for low gain overdrive/boost pedals.

Hope this helps you out Buddy, welcome to the forum. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I will play around with OCD pedal to find what settings sound best to my ear. Another quick question, I am looking into getting an attenuator any feedback one way or the other on best brand to go with. I have looked at the THD & Weber Mass products. Both seem fine but big price difference between the two. I am not opposed to spending more for the better product. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated.

I find that the Egnaters have pretty good master volumes. I wouldn't bother with the attenuator personally.

+1 on the OCD settings. Set your amp for a good mid to high gain tone (depending on taste) and then kick in the OCD with the volume up and the gain down to punish the amp.
