I had been running my Axe direct for recording w/amps sims and through my VHT 2/50/2 and stereo 4x12 w/amp sims, but wanted to hear how the Axe sounded providing just 100% wet effects with my real amp for w/d/w...

So, I just took the adjustable line out I put in my Egnater Seminar head -> Axe, setup a simple micropitchshift patch w/ pitch detune (-9/+9 cents on detune) panned hard left and right, 100% wet -> stereo delay 250 ms right 500 ms left w/ducking enabled, 100% wet -> VHT 2/50/2 -> stereo 4x12 cab. Also had the Seminar head powering a mono 4x12 for dry completing a w/d/w setup... Adjusted the balance between the dry and stereo wet sounds... Heaven man... The effects sound so much nicer than the Lexicon MPX-1 I had been running. Lush, thick guitar tone man...

I had to tell someone... That is all...

I couldn't be happier with this thing!

While I agree the post seems a bit of a tease, this is more of a live setup. If I was gonna record, I'd just record the mic'd Seminar head through that 4x12 and add efx in the mix. Capturing what is going on live would be difficult methinks...

This is a Splawn Quickrod with a wet/dry setup. I agree, it sounds absolutely killer. You would need 3 mics to pull it off live and i think the soundman would consider you a primadonna.

Steve, how woud you compare the verb of the MPX to the axe-fx? The verbs imo are the strong point of the mpx and imo they are quite good esp for the price point.

Honestly I never use verbs on guitar live so I wouldn't know. I only used my MPX for detune and delay...

Short of a Lexington 480 I'm no fan of most verbs in a digi box, the Axe's vintage verb is sooo the bomb. I'm not even using my U Audia plate any more.

I have not heard the real grails, best I have experience with is Ralph's PCM at his place. I do hear the quality of the axe-fx fx though and still waiting for the standards to get below the $1000 level.

My MPX imo kills my old G-Major in the verb department, the trails and decays just sound better. I have read about the vst vs hardware debate and it seems pretty even these days.
