How does Einstein compare to a Bogner Shiva 20th? I absolutely loved my Shiva 20th and am looking at buying another amp that will be as versatile but with a different flavor if that makes sense. I had to sell my 20th a while back for cash flow for my business. Money issues are starting to improve now. I will likelly get another shiva 20th first because I know the amp will do it all well. However, I am interested in a second amp and thinking Einstein will cover all the same bases as Shiva but with a different tonal perspective. Any input would be apperciated.

completely different amp, but just as versatile
too saturated, in my opinion, specially on ch 2, but it does open up really well with the gain on ch1 mode 3 set around 3-4 without losing the sustain
ch2 is too bassy and gainy, but works flawlessly for what it's meant to do (welll, it's the lead channel)
I liked it better than the much more expensive Diezel VH4S
has a very similar gain texture and voicing, but it's more open and organic, and also easier to dial
lead tone is noticeably better than the VH4S, imo
clean didn't impress me, though, but it's pretty good

Whatever Mr. ericsabbath mentioned can easily be addressed with the right tube set and with that the Einstein really shines all across the board.

Kind regards,

INteresting thread. I happen to own a 20th ann shiva that I sleep with but have been eyeying the Einstein hoping to find an amp that is a bit more open and less compressed in the OD department. But Im worried the einsteins cleans would be unusable for what I do. :aww:

I agree the cleans on Ch 1 do suffer when u are using all three modes via footswitch. It does have great cleans (if you don't have a really high output pickup turn the gain up on CH.1 to say 3o'clock or so it does not break up it just seems to get a louder cleaner signal witch blows my mind, Peter D you are the man :worship: .So I set up CH. 1 with mode 2 & 3 sounding good (Gain at 1-2 o'clock Vol. at noonish or so). Then use Ch. 1 clean mode with Master Vol 2 (witch is set low than MV 1) for my clean sound. You could also just toss a clean boost pedal in ront of the amp too. :dunno: but what fun is that when you
have 2 master volumes!

Volume issue is because it's a 2 channel amp, hotwiring it to a pseudo-4 channel amp does have that as a problem*.

However, if you're happy using mode 1, the Einstein has a nice clean. Really nice.

* Not that I'm having a bitch, I've got that too. However I roll off volume for cleans primarily.

am i the only one doing it old school via volume pot?

set channel 1 mode 2 to a nice crunchy tone. put cts pots and nice caps in your guitar and you are done !

einstein has such great dynamics. theres everything you need in mode 2 if you know how to play a guitar, set up your eg (and eventually use a nice boost(not really needed)).

einstein is the best amp ive ever used.

and if you dont get nice and awesome cleans out of your einstein, hmm, your guitar probably sucks, the amp is the truth and unveils every weak spot of your guitar.
