Really surprised this hasn't been brought up here too, maybe we're getting enough of it elsewhere...but in case you missed it, Emperor Custom Cabs (in all their wisdom) posted this on their Facebook page today:

Emperor.png

The post garnered nearly 200 comments, mostly from angry and offended people (including me), and a few by people defending Emperor and telling those offended to F off and get a life. They deleted the post and put up "Rip Jim Marshall" and now that post is continuing the comment wars. No retraction or apology.

Utterly classless in my opinion.

Even if you believe this, have some decency, there is no need to post this. No good could come from it.

It definitely created a shitstorm...even if that's your personal opinion, to post that on your company's official page on the day of his passing is indefensible. There are people MUCH angrier and more offended than even I and some are former customers of thiers that are vowing to never buy from them again and to spread the word. Just brainless on their part...I would hate to think that any of it found its way back to Jim's close friends and family.

I never hear of Emperor cabs. Now I have. Maybe their plan worked? Shame it has to come at the expense of someone else.

"Just in case you didn't know, Emperor Custom Cabs was a company that tried to capitalize on the boutique amp/cab craze......made a handful of guitar cabinets.......failed to gain any widespread acclaim for its cabinet designs but DID manage to alienate what few customers it had by making tasteless comments about the founder of the most successful and beloved musical instrument company in the industry."

Pic of Emperor's PR rep:

Cab companies. Gotta love 'em. Everyone thinks they've come up with a new way to make a ply-wood box. Emperor just does it uglier than everyone else.

I do agree for them to leave that comment was pretty retarted....Regardless of the motive...

But I thought their cabs look amazing and lots of metal players love the sound.

I have never tried one, always wanted to...

I am not typically a Marshall fanboy but Jim Marshall imo deserves worlds of resspect from any electric guitar player.

But honestly after seeing that FB post it does decrease my interest in giving Emperor my money.

Same here. There are a ton of people that can build a speaker box. I would gladly go to any one of the other guys after reading this tasteless comment. What a douche!

That dude that posted that need to be punched in the face with Brass Knuckles to be brought back to reality. Jim designed one of the best platforms in amp history.

Emperor is owned and ran by a couple or three dudes in a band (Raise the Red Lantern). They have posted dumb things on their Facebook page before.

Ahh yes Emperor...casting that proverbial stone while they build their 4x12 cabs.

Wait...who was it that pioneered the 4x12 speaker cabinet..

Oh yeah, that's right. MARSHALL.

Wow, I dont get that at all.. Even if you dont like Marshall equipment, there's no denying their place in history. Jim Marshall grew to be a dear humble fellow in his old age who gave tons of money to help lots of people who were less fortunate than himself. It would have been easy for him, with that much success, to turn out to be the opposite type of person, but he never lost sight of what was important to him up to the point he was greeted by the angels..
A little respect please (emperor cabs), you guys are not a hair on the nutsack of the Govnor :gethim: :gethim:
Go back and settle for whatever crumbs are left over from building variations of stuff he did while you were still soiling your diapers

bad move. but we all have made a few blunders. thank god i wasn't on the internet when i was young. i have made some insanely bad jokes in my time.

I personally prefer other amplifiers, and have never owned a Marshall. That said, I still respect everything Jim Marshall did for Rock and Roll. I had a chance to meet him at NAMM a few years ago and I was proud to post my pic with him on my Facebook page.

Whether you are a fan or not of the amplifier you cannot, I repeat, cannot dispute the fact that Jim Marshall gave Rock and Roll a voice. A lot of the amp makers today that get talked about on this board are making replicas, enhanced versions of, or inspired by amplifiers that owe their heritage to Marshall.

Yeah he took some circuits out of an RCA manual. But he took it further than that too. I think the post Emperor Cabs is the highest version of LAME you can achieve.

Scott

Didn't these guys also post an open letter to some kid who apparently failed to pay for his order? I remember the letter was very unprofessional with slurs and threats of violence.

Maybe they're hoping bad press is still good press?

Regardless, never really heard of these jackasses, and now, given the insight, I plan on never hearing of them again.

Although I too am not a Marshall amp fan, I've got mega respects for the man who made them go to 11. C'mon, rock and roll as we know was BORNE of these amps... Zep, Clapton, Hendrix, Deep Purple, AC/DC, and the list just keeps going on and on and on... The most infamous 'brand' in the music industry. And the most replicated original circuit in amp history.

Emperor what??
