Been putting a blackmore I got for a steal through its paces these last few weeks and I have to say for saturated yet clear high gain this amp kills. There Is no discernable loss of clarity from a fat sounding 7 on the gain knob to an all out 10' pretty impressive.

I find the lower gain mode too stiff and full of attack for a true crunch sound and the clean channel is pretty generic. I also have no use for the pre scene knob which actually adds gain to the treble frequencies as you turn it up. Zero is fine for me there is plenty of treble available without it.

Anway I love it, reminds me of studio friedman/gottenberg every time I plug into it.

Anyone else like it?

Love mine. Used to be my number one gigging amp before I got my Fortin. Still have it because it is a killer solution for me when I need just a quick and easy kickass tone.

great amp indeed, i owned one for about 8 months and i thought it was really nice.

The Blackmore is a great amp. I would have said it is the best of the ENGL line until I tried the Powerball II.

I thought the original Powerball was a fine amp, but ENGL got it right with the new version.....in a big way.

The Blackmore is a kick ass simple layout with GREAT tone

Miss my Blackmore/MCtallica1's blackmore/Whoever I bought it from on here's Blackmore! \m/

I had one for a while! Definitely and awesome amp! It worked as a backup for my Savage.

I had one for about 2 years, never could bond with it, but for the reasons you stated about the clean and 'crunch': Too generic and too stiff, respectively. And WAY too bright for me, I had the Presence at zero, treble around 9:00. Anything above that, and it was just too piercing for me. I didn't care much for the feel of the Lead channel, either, the whole amp was just too tight for my tastes. I liked the sound, just not the feel. I liked it best with lower tunings, but I don't normally tune down, so it wasn't worth hanging on to any longer.

Loved mine that used to own, gigged heavily with it for 4-5 years.

I couldn't go back to one now though

Are there any clips of this amp actually sounding close to Blackmores sound? I particularly like the tone he had on the Perfect Strangers album. Most clips I have heard sound very metal. The amp just doesn't sound like Blackmore to me at all.

Maybe I just haven't heard the right clips?

Maybe it's just me, but I just couldn't get a Blackmore tone out of the Blackmore.

<---- And I kinda like him, if you haven't guessed. :D

Then it's not just me. Egnl's have a distinct kinda sound that I don't associate with Blackmore. When I saw he had a model, it struck me as odd. Like if Dime came out with a Signature Fender Twin.
