Anyone have any experience with them?
I walked into a local shop this weekend and BAM! I see Engl's. I tested out a Fireball with a Standard V60 loaded 4x12. The amp sounded alright, but was too scooped sounding for my taste. Not very raw and too smooth. I also tried a Thunder, better, but not my thing either.

But...the V60 Engl 4x12 was really nice. Very warm sounding and tight bass response. I was thinking of getting one to pair with my V30 Mesa 4x12. Seems as though they would compliment each other as from what I can gather the V60's have less mids but more low end.

Any thoughts?

I had one of those engl cabs with the v60's and liked it alot.. The only thing i had to compare it to though was a crappy 1960a marshall cab though, so almost anything would've sounded better than that. Definetly was not as harsh on the top end and had a nice bottom end. Mids were pretty neutral i believe but i dont recall, its been a while now. I dont know if i would pay $1000 for it. I mainly buy all my stuff used. But just as a reference i got mine off ebay for $490 shipped. One thing is for certain about engl cabs, they are built like tanks maybe stronger :D ..

Tracked with a V30 Pro slant last spring. Very tight cab. I dug how it sounded quite a bit. Seemed to react well with every amp and every playing style we threw at it.

i have an ENGL Pro Straight 4x12 cab with V30s that i use with a 2 channel Mesa Recto and it sounds great. had a Diezel cab for awhile and still have a Marshall Mode Four cab for the practice space and it sounds tighter and ballsier than both. (check out myspace.com/theembalmed or theembalmed.com and click on the music navigation if you want to hear it recorded- Compelled. Morgueasm and Heartworm all were recorded with this cab from both of our guitarists).
only minus is that the tolex is really soft and can be scratched up pretty easy and it is STUPID HEAVY weight wise. neither bothers me all that much.
killer cab for tight, ballsy, cutting metal IMO.

Thanks guys.
I've heard a lot from ENGL Pro cab users, but nothing about the Standard cab.
There are both different with regards to construction and speakers.
Like I said, I played the Standard cab twice last weekend but couldn't get a definite read on it because of the amp I was using.
The price is a little steep. But where I live these cabs don't even show up new, nevermind used.

I've never played my Blackmore through an Engl cab, but I have tried a pair of the V60 speakers in my G-Flex cab and I thought they sounded good.

:)

Thanks, I guess it's the speakers I'm most curious about.

The other difference between the Standard and Pro is that the Pro is all 14 ply Baltic Birch, while the Standard is "standard plywood" construction with the Baltic Birch baffling. shrugs

I love 'em, 2 Engl 4X12's with Celestion V30's
They crushed my Marshall 4X12's
Sounded bigger than my Mesa Recto 4X12's
Even better than my CAA 4X12's
They're a different Beast though.
They have more Punch, Tightness, being front loaded
but have a Shit Ton of Low End. Not as warm as the CAA or Mesa
but I wanted a cab with more Punch and Bite.

I'm pretty sure I still have the V60 speakers, if your interested. I haven't used them in a while. But I only have 2. Both of my cabs are 2x12.

:)

Engl cabs are some of the best cabs i've ever played

i owned one with V30's for 2-3 yrs

VERY heavy to lift though
