Engl E530 users..

Looking for some opinions on the Engl E530, specifically if anyone is maybe using it with a tube power amp. I am interested in this preamp as the price seems very right so I wanted to get opinions on one. I know Engl amps have the tendency to get lost in a full band mix but what if the preamp was combined with a Fryette or Mesa power amp, would that be more effective?. Why are these being sold so cheap?
 
I've had 6-7 Engl heads and also the E570 preamp, the E530 is the only one I kept
For about 500$ used, it's worth it
 
I have owned many preamps, I still have a few (JMP-1, MP-2, TriAxis) but I think the E530 sounds the best to my ears. I run it into an E850 power amp with a E212VHB cab for each side. It can go from pristine clean to hi gain saturation with many usable tones in between IMO. Not sure what the current prices are, I've had mine a few years now. I don't think there's a big market for preamps these days compared to amps and modelers...just my opinion and observation.
 
It was very disappointing. Okay at home, but has absolutely no mids to be heard in a band. I used a Mesa 290 with 6l6s.
