Hey Guys,

I am a new ENGL dealer and have played the Special Edition and the Savage 120 and have listened to Doug Rappaport play the Invader 150, Steve Morse and the The Powerball II. For you guys who play ENGL what do you dig and why do you dig it?

I owned the Invader 150, Savage 120 and Fireball 100.
My favorite of the 3 was the Invader 150 BY FAR!
Just had a really heavy dare say "marshall'ish'" vibe?
Channel 2 was so damn good. Didnt really care for 3 or 4. The clean on it it was just pristine.
One of my all time favorite amps I have owned.

I have owned many ENGLs over the years. I still own a Blackmore. They make a large line that cover the entire spectrum of electric guitar playing from brutal metal (obviously) to rock 'n roll and even clean styles like country and jazz. I have owned an SE, Invader 100, Fireball 100, Powerball II, and the aforementioned Blackmore which has seen tons of live use. Never had a single problem with any of them. I know some have had issues but most have had none. ENGLs sound huge and have lots of options.

I am actually going to the Hollywood showroom tomorrow.

I like the Engl product. I don't love it, I like it. If it weren't for Diezel, I may have been stuck with Engl in a not-too-unhappy-a-way. I think they've got a sweet product line, but I also think they're going to get slammed by the smaller boutique offerings out there like DAR and Rhodes and the like.

Who knows, I liked 'em when I had 'em in my space... They were loud and clear, decent bass, fairly unique tone, good player sensitivity, yada yada...

Peace

Owned an SE EL34 and a Powerball. The Powerball was pretty good and really liked the versatility of the SE. The newest Retro amp looks and sounds awesome from the demo I watched,

I have the little gig master and it's the better of the lunch box heads I have tried. Doesn't get a whole lot of love but mine compares favorably to other bigger amps I have had. Tube swap needed.

I am exactly the opposite. I liked the Powerball II i just had much more than my Herbert and it is way less money, almost half the price. Plus I didn't lose money selling it. I also don't see how DAR or Rhodes are going to hurt ENGL in any way. Especially DAR.

Savage 120, Blackmore, and Savage SE are the ones I've played, SE was my favorite, but they all kicked mucho ass... Can't really go wrong with any of them.

I dig the viscious Metal i can get out of the SE, Savage and invader. Very versitile amps. They are built well, but I understand not everyone digs the PCB, all the circuitry and gadgets. I really like my ENGL amps!

Seems like the consensus for my opening order is Savage 120, Invader 150, EL 34 Special Edition and Power Ball 2 and a few cabs yes? Man between these, Diezel and Bogner I better learn to speak German!

German cars, German amps... Coincidence? No.

The se el34 was one of the best amps I have owned. Real versatile smooth and nasty.
Llousy support in the usa was always a drawback.
Looks like that just changed.
Good Luck with the line.

Perfect, you might order a few foot switches as well.

Had an ENGL digital amp back in the day, as well as a Straight 100 combo, all their older preamps, a poweramp, Savage 120, and 2 cabs (that Brad bought off fo me)... I just love the reponsiveness, and the ability to cover the ground between a Boogie and a Marshall, and kind of/almost be able do both..

US support sucked, but Horst Langer answered severla of my emails for support!

If you are dealing with Micheal Berger (Burger??) he is a class guy all the way too

As far as the support thing goes, when Velvet Dist. took over it got much better. Tyme got Horst to answer a few emails I had when I converted a Blackmore from EU to US operation for a friend of mine. Very helpful.

Ive only chatted with Tyme on the phone but he seems like a good guy and he cares about the product.

I used to own a bunch of engl's, i had the following.

ENGL SE el34
blackmore
savage120
powerball v1 and v2
invader 100
invader 150
steve morse

my 3 favs was the ENGL SE, savage 120 and steve morse and in that order, i wasnt a fan of the invaders at all but alot of people seemed to like it because it was a little different.
