Engl Invader: Missing that Hot Rodded Marshall sound

I have an invader... cool amp. for sure...But I find Myself missing that Hot-rodded Marshall sound...

The invader is supposed to be marshallesque....
But....

Anyone else find themselves going back to the HR Marshall...after a venture out...
I have done this with Bogner, soldano...and the list goes on....

You got the 100 or the 150?
I had the 150 and it was pretty "Hot rodded" Marshall on channel 2.
Never heard the 100 though. The Invader 150 was one of my favorite amps.

I didn't think it sounded like a Marshall. It didn't even sound like a typical ENGL either. The attack is very different, blunt and heavy, like a big rubber hammer, and not sharp, biting and cutting like a Marshall. Very loud amp too, not something that satisfies at speaking volume. An interesting amp nevertheless, just not what I was looking for.

I've bought tons of amps, and always go back to Marshalls... The classic Marshall tone stack in their amps just can't be beat ever IMO.

One of my friends has the 100 and it's not Marshall-like at all...actually its very Mesa-Like.

If you want hot rodded Marshall tones from an ENGL you need to be looking at the Savage...awesome amp IMO.

I am actually getting a BFG Modded marshall...

Love the Invader, and Marshalls as well.. BFG ...good choice, brian is a nice guy and knows his sheeit !

Man. If I see one more thread that says "I got this amp that doesn't sound like a _________" I'm gonna.......see another one, I guess.

I owned a Powerball and an SE with EL34s. I have heard quite a few clips of the Invader and IMO none of them sound like a Marshall. EL34s don't make a hot rodded Marshall even though many manufacturers like to infuse the "British" influence. No offense intended.

It is not that I wanted the engl to sound like a Marshall... Ive been through that phase...

What I am saying is I feel like I am missing somehting the Modded Marshall has "to my ears" that I am missing... Not that the ENGL is missing...

Also now that I am running the power thru a VHT...It brings a whole new angle to the "tone I had before" but was to loud to use it...

I had a 150 and I didn't really think it was that similar to a marshall. It was a cool amp bit still too compressed for me

I think that is why I sold my Engl amp and bought a fair dinkum Marshall.

I think it is I came from the land of 80's modded and boosted marshall is what is in my head...
