Thought's on these? Might be picking one up. It's the powerball 1 but the v.2 I guess with an updated treble circuit and better noise gate.

tons of gain on tap, keep the gain low and they track tight on record, get carried away and it becomes mush under a mic - love the voicing though as it is my favorite engl. one of the best damn clean channels i have ever heard, just a workhorse amplifier.

Love mine. Brutal, almost machine-like levels of saturated gain (more than my Herbert). Good cleans. As above, a real workhorse amp.

i loved my powerball. was sad to see it go. thank the maker it went to a friend.

might be swapping my jcm 2000 tsl + an '83 jcm 800 cab loaded with g12-70's + a jackson dominion pro for the pb + a mesa cab. thoughts on that?

Great deal. TSLs are terrible amps (I know, I still own one :aww: )

I never meshed with my Powerball V1. For me it had a hollow mid sound that I couldn't dial out. I just wasn't happy with it. Yeah, the cleans are good but no better than a Herbert, Cobra, and more.

For me the Powerball sounded like a crappy version of a Diezel Herbert. Both Diezel and ENGL share that "clean" hi gain tone that is all crunch and no fuzz and grit like a Recto or Uber, which is really cool, but it just didn't work the best for me when compared to the Herbert. I did however never have a chance to try a clean boost with it, that might help with the hollow mids problem with that amp.

I actually think the tsl isn't too bad. I like it a little better than my buddies 2 channel dual rec

haha he just doesn't have his mesa dialed in right. I know that's a good amp though. Shit, I got him that amp for a freaking Nomad 100
