Have any of you been around it yet, and what do you think of it? :)

Someone needs to buy one and make some clips. Would love to hear the improvements.

+1 You and me both.

i agree. no-one has owned one, not alot exists about this amplifier.

they said they made alot of improvements?

It'd have to show many improvements to be considered a good amp. The one I played sounded solid state.

I played one at Messe.

Meh.

Compressed and totally undynamic. Attack was slow and no punch. Maybe the right sound for some but to me this was a lame amp. I guess it has small tranformers, that's what it sounds like at least.

I had a blast playing through the original PB I owned. But to me Engl only excels at really high gain tone. Their version of crunch tone and clean tones... not very desirable IMO.

The ENGLs I've heard did sound quite compressed, but nice. Have great clean tones and are awesome for high gain, but mid gain tones aren't the best out there. Sounded pretty compressed also.

Sounded like alot of preamp distoriton going on aswell, to my ears anyway. I'm yet to play a PB but I know a guy who has two and I've seen his band play several times with his ENGL rig.

So, typical Engl tone eh? Figures. *sigh*
I was hoping it would be a killer amp and be good at everything the previous version wasn't.
What a bummer.

Thats about what i expected, i dont think its a amp i would like, i used to dig the pbv1 and v2 but my ears changed and i dont like them anymore, give me a blackmore over a pb anyday.

I cannot tell you how many time I've read where people much prefer the RB over the other Engl amps. I gotta try one of these. Is the RB like the Savage 120? Because I much prefer the PB to the Savage 120.

I must be the only human left who still really, really lkes my powerball. I still get a lot of versatility out of it.

I don't think so, man. I think it is still a good amp. Different strokes, I guess. I really want to try the new one, no matter what people's opinions are.

I would say it leans more towards the savage than the pb but the savage still sounds different, the RB has more of a marshall vibe to it. the savage has more lows and more gain too.

I'd love to try one. I think I read a post from PhilBelanger saying he played the PBII and it was badass....

I personally like the original PB; very unique high gain tone IMO.

Yeah, that's me :)
I tried one this week. I liked it. The feel reminded me of the Sig:X Rhythm channel. The voicing was
smooth, no real emphasis on anything even with extreme EQ settings.

The amp did not speak to me enough to gas over it but it wasn't bad at all.

BTW I tried through the Engl 4X12 with V30.

Never tried that one but i had the Fireball 100 for a couple weeks.
Super heavy amp. Once the honeymoon was over....to the curb it went.
My favorite Engl is still the Invader 150 when I had it.
Great versatile amp.

I liked the Powerballs I owned and would be curious to play through the new one.

With that said, I prefer the Blackmore to every ENGL I have played....have not played a Savage though. Would like to try one of those too

I have played Savages pretty extensively and they are very cool but I still prefer my Blackmore.
