Hello in the process of buying a Engl Retro 50 head .just have some concerns. If anyone has had experience with one.Do they suffer from the common engl 50-60 watt under powered power section like the fireball 60 and thunder 50 any help would be most appreciated

I had one, it absolutely screamed. It's more hot rodded Marshall than anything. I'd own another in a heartbeat.

Don't let the name fool you. It's a high gain beast. I'd put it's tone up against a Friedman any day, and it's more aggressive. One of the pieces of gear I truly regret selling.

Underpowered? Hell no. And it slices through the mix like no other Engl I've owned, or heard. Mids for days. Like I said, it's a hot rodded Marshall.... On steroids.

This demo sealed the deal for me. Badass amp. Yeah, this is the 100, but my 50 nailed these tones.

Awesome that’s great to hear!! was worried with all the engl fb60 reviews of being under powered

Killer amp! It sent my Fireball 100 packing. Much warmer, fatter, juicier amp. It’s got a great feel, and a ripping midrange. That video’s an extremely accurate representation of what it sounds like.

Absolutely great sounding amp and is plenty loud enough no worries there...If you order the big foot controller it really crushes a lot of amps that are much more expensive...

The FB60 has plenty of power, it's just so scooped, there's no mids. What may be perceived as underpowered, is just the fact that they get buried.

Reminds me of my first edition Powerball. Tone sounded great but that thing would just disappear in a mix, regardless of how loud it was cranked. When I switched back to a 5150 it was night a day.
