Engl Savage EQ broken?

Hi guys! First post on this forum - I've lurked a bit, mostly for gear buying advice. I tried posting this question on another forum, but no answer - hoping for better luck here.

I'm sure someone on this forum owns an engl Savage 120. I have one, and when I push the rough/smooth button (turning the LED on) it bypasses the entire EQ section on the crunch 2/lead channel. Is it supposed to be that way, or is my savage broken?

I bought it used and it was like that when I got it, so I don't know. Manual has been consulted, as has google - extensively. Thanks for any help, guys!

That's weird, I just got an e-mail from ENGL support (after several days, thanks guys  ) that says "the EQ should take action but react very differently when the rough/smooth button is pressed".

Well, one of the eq knob does affect the tone a bit, the high treble (I think).
I used the smooth for a while but prefer the grind of the rough now. It takes
more dialing but it sounds better to me.

solution.... send it to me for evaluation.... :D

I love the savage, such a great amp, i will own one soon! the rough/smooth button is what did it for me on that amp, i pushed that and was like WHOA!
