I know that the Engl se e670 comes in el34 and 6l6, and both versions are interchangeable with tubes (with warning on el34's), but does this mean you can run 6l6's without harm in the el34 model?

Just curious if anyone knows.

In the Engl SE 6L6 version, you cannot run EL34s in it safely without changing your screen grid resistors. This is extremely important because EL34s run hotter than 6L6s.

In the Engl SE EL34 version, you can safely run it with 6L6 tubes because the amp is designed to handle the hotter voltage. Just change the bias switch in the amp, and use the biasing knobs to get it to the appropriate levels.

I used to own the SE (EL34) and had the same inquiries.

Thanks, that was my question exactly.
