EQ pedal vs. flat response OD.. which preserves tone more?

Playing around with my slightly modded JCM800 and lovin the classic hot rodded tones I am getting. Using OD pedals just pushes it over the edge. Great for some stuff but definitely a noticeable jump in the mids and highs if using anything tube screamerish. EQ pedals when set completely flat and used only for a slight boost are what I am looking at. When comparing to a few of the one knob boosts I have tried, I prefer EQ pedals as i find they don't thicken up the tone unless I want them to. So what OD pedals have you found that are relatively flat and just push the amp a tad more? I was looking at the open road overdrive by visual sound or maybe a mxr micro amp as it seems to act differently than your standard boost. What do you guys like?

Running a Boss Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal in the loop.....(nothing extreme set)
Then a Timmy pedal CLONE (Danelectro Transparent Overdrive) for a boost.....
yeahhhhh.......thats the TICKET!!

Using and EQ for a volume boost in the loop and a Timmy up front works awesome with a Marshall. The Timmy is very transparent and has bass and treble cut controls that will allow you to make it sound exactly like your amp with just more drive. No mid hump at all. I like to run the level all the way up and set the gain about 9:00 for a great soloing tone.

The Timmy works great with a CCV too. It's one of my all time favorite OD's

Interesting.. I have a bad monkey which I love for the TS mid hump.... BOSS GE-7 i am luke warm on. Something it is missing for me. Tried the Dano Transparent OD and thought it sounded a little too colored. Was thinking of trying the visual sound garage tone drivetrain pedal actually but the real Timmy sounds interesting..

I never cared for the GE-7. I prefered the MXR 12 Band.

Dial up the bass and treble settings to flatten out the bump.

I like my Timmy for a clean solo boost.

I've got a locally-built overdrive pedal that has an op-amp in it, very warm sound. It was originally made to add a bit of grit to a Fender Twin. It works great with my Marshall JCM800- I run that amp super clean with the Master cranked up and when I hit the pedal on, it growls!
But I do set the Tone very low, about 8 o'clock.
