I remember when this album came out I didn't really get into it for whatever reason. I was listening to it last night though, and now I really like it. Really mellow and relaxing, and I'm a big fan of EJ's voice. Any other fans of this album here?

I really like Bloom. He has been putting more and more jazz stuff on each album that he does. He rock based stuff is sounding more off the cuff as well. Which is a nice change of pace for EJ. I caught him with Satch a few months ago, and he always blows me away with both his playing and his tone.

worth getting, then? I've got ah via musicom and venus isle, both of which are badass, never got round to getting bloom...

Lower gained amps are calling you.... ;)

  :D
Someday you are going to try a lower gained amp and think holy shit, that's heavy as hell and I can feel the way I play is responding with the amp.

I know ;)

I was young and only liked metal once. It's a journey for sure. Cool you are getting into Eric.

I've always loved EJ man. Back when I first started playing guitar I remember I bought Venus Isle at CD Warehouse for like $3. I loved it and it's still one of my favorite albums today.

sophistated stuff and beautiful arrangements on some the tunes. E.J. will always be on my top 5. That improv acoustic piece at the end is brilliant..reminds of Lyle Mays/Pat Metheny. He's a class act period.

Check out the Eric Johnson and Alien Love Child - Live and Beyond CD. I waited a while to get this and was blown away when I did. Some normal blues tunes on it but a great CD.

I really like the song "columbia". I think it's a great CD. The kind of music you can listen to with your in-laws.

That is an awesome song.

overall i really hate that album, it does have a few real neat tunes, "Sad legacy" being my favorite track. and yeah the jazzy tunes are cool too, but overall the album sounds rushed to me and the songs arent as well crafted as previous EJ material, they have a "jam" feel that i guess i dont dig. But thats just MY opinion!
