ESP Horizon NT-II vs. ESP M-II, I can't decide!

I'm going a bit nuts trying to decide on either of these. I'm actually considering one of the new Charvels too.

The NT-II has the advantage of being a hard tail, which is good for me. I'm not crazy about the finish though. I don't hate it, but I'd much rather have black. Also, the wood. I'm used to mahogany for my \m/ side, and have never used Alder in this context. Part of me is leaning towards the M-II just to try something different, but part of me is swaying towards the NT-II.

Help!!!

Who has played either or both? Comments?

I hestitate to tell you this cause I kind of want it, ;) but a dude on the ESP boards is selling a see-thru black Horizon. It is an import that you can't get here. He has it on ebay right now, but I know he'll take less on a deal through the forums.

As for Horizon vs. MII. Horizon by a mile. IMO

Heh, I don't have the cash as of yet either. Thanks for the heads up. If we had the solid black NT-II here I would be in heavennnnn.

Ouch...that is a nice price too. Depending on when my super reverb sells... :scared:

I'm having a Duncan Custom installed in my M-II Deluxe so I'll let you know how that sounds. It should sound much better than the JB that was in there.

Cool man, I'm definitely curious. What is your opinion of the guitar as a whole? How is the upper fret access??

It's a nice guitar. Nothing amazing, but it's solid and with the pickup change should sound great. Upper fret access is fine IMO. Mine has the somewhat angled neck joint though, I don't know if the newer M-II's have that or not?

I'm pretty sure they all have that. It's such a hard choice though since the NT-II is hardtail, ebony board, and mahogany. It should be an obvious choice for me lol.

Hmmm, seems that the STB is Alder?

Oh. That kills it for me then. :(

The mahoganny one I had was awesome. I actually considered buying the blue one and swapping the JB for a custom. A friend of mine has one that he did with it and the Custom was a big improvement.

Well, the auction says mahogany, but I've seen on other websites that the STB is listed as alder.

Maybe they changed it this year?
