I really like what ESP japan custom shop frets look and feel like on a phoenix or eclipse. Im getting a refret on an SG Custom soon and want to mimic what an esp has going on. Des anyone know what kind of fret wire they use and if there is anything else special to their frets. I like how the edges are rounded too. The binding is already gone on SG so I dont have to worry about that

most ESP have the extra jumbo which I believe are equivalent to either the Dunlop 6100's or 6105s.
The rounded fret ends have nothing to do with the wire itself, the ESP luthiers round off the edges once they fit the frets on.

Do you think it would be ok on an sg custom or would it be too cramped high on fretboard?

pretty sure ESP fretwire is smaller than USA made. Not like the older 80's days and definitely smaller than ibanez fretwire.

Doing the hotdog ends on frets is a skill, one that a lot of guys don't learn. Be sure to ask your luthier if he does it.
