Hi all:

Figured I'd put a question out there since I am in the market.

My local GC has a listing for a used ESP MII (non-LTD, maple neck, real floyd, duncans) in what looks like great condition for $999. I haven't had a chance to go try it out yet which I will but wanted to see what everyone thought since I have never had one before.

I have had only single coil guitars for some time but really want to get a nice rock guitar and this intrigued me since new they sell for like $1600 or so.

So, what do we all think? :m17:

Thanks,

You can get it for way less. They're closer to 700 used, sometimes even less than that. Great guitars, though.

The current MII is a great no-frills rock machine, and I´d probably buy one again if they offered a HSS version, but just like Code said you can probably find one a bit cheaper.

Yeah, see if you can get it a little cheaper. I love mine with Bareknuckle Nailbombs.

Thanks guys. :D

Definitely gonna get myself there to give it a test drive and get my haggling skills on. :gethim:

That one is way overpriced but great, great guitars. I had one as my main gigging guitar for about a decade and it never failed me.

I've got an 89 m11 and its been my only mainstay for about 10 years now. Found in a pawnshop in SC, and got it cheap. It's a great guitar, my only downfall with the newer ones are I do not like 24 fret guitars other than that there great.

mine was an 80's model too!

If the condition is just like new then, it would be alright to pay that but, otherwise no... you'd need to flex those haggle skills to get it down a couple hundred bucks. Even though the price has gone up lately, I still consider it a $1,200 to $1,300 guitar new.

Great guitars, especially for the price. My two main guitars for the last 10 years have both been ESP M-IIs. One is a regular M-II Deluxe from the mid 90s (I think '96) and one is an M-II "Custom" got both on Ebay for about $600 each around '99 or early 2000s.

I got a 2010 M2 in excellent condition (bolt-on, not maple neck, 2 pickups) for 800. I thought it was a good price. At least, that was by far the lowest price i came across when i was looking.

For 999 and to have the ability to try it in the store first, I probably would have bought it! Maybe you can negotiate it down to 900 or 950.

Great guitar! The only thing to look out for is the volume knob placement. It's very close to the highe E string so you may or may not find it getting in the way. Try it and if you are fine with that then it's great!

I blocked my trem with a tremol-no and that's working great too.

Great guitars, but I prefer the Horizons. FYI, if you're not dead set on a Floyd, someone has a killer Horizon with TOM on sale here for only $900!!!

Thanks for the head's up. I do like to look of the M-II more and not a fan of active pickups.

I'm gonna get to my local GC some time this week to give it a test run. Just been busy preparing for the holidays and having a house guest at the moment.

I'll be certain to update the thread with the result and pics if I pick it up.

Thanks again to all for your input. This is why I enjoy being a part of this community.
