There is not a whole lot of information out there about the actual ESP custom shops and standard production facility. What I do know is that ESP has a few shops that produce customs and customshop/artist models and one standard series facility. The custom shops are the (T) Takada, (K) Kiso, (CH) Craft House and the (SS) Standard Series production facility. As most of you already know the letters correspond to the serial number to identify which shop is was built in. Thats about all I know fact wise about the custom shops themselves, I would like to know more about the people who work there or what the different shops look like….something, anything. I've always wondered. Hopefully some of you have some info. Thanks

ESP has recently consolidated all the Custom Shops into one facility. Sorry but I can't remember any more details other than that! lol

Its a safe bet to say that the people who work there are Japanese....

Search around and you can find some pictures and short videos.

EDIT...here ya go on this very forum.

I ordered a custom special from ESP. Took 1.5 years to get it but the serial number does not say custom shop, but SS. I had a colour change request and a neck profile change.

Now there is only one custom shop as mentioned before. They consolidated considerably and removed the option for custom special orders. Anything not offered from the factory is considered a full one off custom and gets expensive.

Talk to shane at bmusic, he has a forum and knows everything.
Guitarslingerans knows alot too, there used to be multiple threads with photos on the esp board but its changed to a new format and the old threads are gone. Theres still a few people over there that can help you. Theres also a bunch of esp japan twitter accounts, theres crafthouse, custom shop and a few more.

It's a shame because Jackson is like that too. For a while I was really into getting a Jackson firebird but always wanted a fatter neck than what they offered. It was always too cost prohibitive to go custom just for different neck profile. I played one at a long ago Namm that if I had any money I would have begged my boss to buy it for his store so I could have bought it. It was a sweet natural Mahogany (or maybe Korina) finish Firebird with a more rounded neck. This was back in the late 90's. Really dig ESP and Jackson's quality but they don't offer anything stock that floats my boat.
