Hey all,
Went pawn shop hop'n the other day and came across an Eventide Modfactor for $220. I seriously contemplated nab'n it but thought I'd ask around first.

I've had plans to pickup a MXR EVH Phase 90 & Flanger and either the Dunlop Univibe or TC Shaker but thought that for the price of this used ModFactor it would be worth considering. For the users, were you able to dial in relatively close EVH Phase 90 and Flangers? How about the 'Vibe?

I'm a huge fan of the Eventide 'Factor pedals as I already own the TimeFactor and Space along with the PowerFactor so I wouldn't mind adding this to my rig providing it'll nail the sounds I'm after.

It's an awesome stomp. Period.

You'll be able to upgrade its firmware online with the active user account (make sure you get the S/N of the unit and the original box) which totally keeps it current. The modulation effects were outstanding in this unit. At one time I owned all three 'Factor pedals. Believe it or not, the one I SOLD was the ModFactor. Why you ask? Well, at the time, real estate was a premium, and I found I could get most of the mod-fx by using my PitchFactor to get almost the desired results as that of the MF, so the MF got sold.

As I'm now racking my FX and going all MIDI, I'm back in the market for - taaaaadaaaaaaaaa - a ModFactor.

I love Eventide.

Spend the extra $200 and get the Strymon Mobius. It will get you much closer to the sound of pedals like a Phase 90. With the Modfactor you'll tweak until you're dizzy, with the Strymon twist a few knobs and the sound is there.

But for $220 you could try the Modfactor and flip it if it doesn't work out and maybe not lose much dough.

 Thanks guys. I'll head back to that pawn shop this weekend and have a better look at it to see if it's good. The price is definitely worth trying.

danyeo: I had thought about the Mobius as well. Maybe if the ModFactor doesn't pan out I'll look into it.

Good choice - get the MF, try it out, make sure it can be registered in your name and therefore, you can get the real time FW updates for it. For $200, you got nuthin' to lose. If it sucks, flip it. The Strymon shit is off the hook, but ya, that's a $400 pop. Give the MF a whirl first.

I like Eventide.

Danyeo know I like Eventide.

I bought one shortly after it came out. I thought the quality of sounds in the pedal were really sub-par. The Timefactor and Space are really killer pedals, but Eventide just couldn't get modulation right with the Modfactor. None of the mods sound "right" to my ear.

I'm happy as a clam with the Strymon Mobius though...THAT pedal is killer.
