I have an ESP Horizon, and I really cant stand the way it looks. I am definitely not a fan of purple guitars and the shape isn't appealing to my eyes either, nor the headstock. But damn, this thing sounds absolutely amazing, and plays effortlessly. It is a neck through. It has a maple neck with an ebony fretboard, and I LOOOVVVEE ebony fretboards. It has an alder body which normally for me is a take it or leave it body wood. But, in combination with the maple neck, ebony fretboard, and a Duncan Custom 5, it is flat out amazing. and I am playing it through a Masotti x100m Classic and I am LOVING the amp as well. The amp is very particular. It works great with some guitars and pickups and not so great with others. it loves the Horizon with Custom 5, and it doesn't really like my Suhr Modern with SSH+, and it loves my Les Paul with Wolfetone Dr Vintage and doesn't so much Like my PRS McCarty with McCarty pickups. I am sure if I put different pups in the Suhr it would be great with that also. I guess I am going off topic.

I love my ugly Horizon!! And usually I like my guitars to be visually appealing to me, but for the Horizon I make an exception.

I don't personally own either of them, but I've played the Music Man Petrucci, and the EVH Wolfgang and they both play amazingly. That being said, they both look like they were designed by Jeff Healy. How those body designs made it off of the drawing board is beyond my comprehension.

I guess I'm weird, but I actually like the looks of the EVH WG. :scared:

As far as ugly guitars, I used to have a Gibson LP classic antique with the Tom Morgan paint job. It was bright orange and people thought it was pretty ugly, but I liked it.

I have an early 90s Jackson made in Japan dinky... that I bought for 50 bucks.... the saddles are mismatched, the tremelo rusted, 1 of the tuners is off another guitar, it's black, but has some bad, deep dings in it, that whoever it belonged to before put red fingernail polish over top of it... but the damn thing rocks.. You hit a chord and the whole thing vibrates, has sustain for days. I use that guitar for everything.. As far as playing it in public, I have no shame

Got any pics of the Horizon?

I've got a gold MM Reflex that looks pretty ugly to me, but with a Custom 5 installed, I really like the way it sounds.

I'm with you. I take a look at the Music Man and shake my head. I chalk it up to personal taste. I'm sure lots of people hate my Charvels.

I wouldnt consider the Horizon ugly at all, but then again these are mine( and yes, I went back and got my first one back for any who followed my amp thread)

Charvels are sexy with nice curves. The Music Man looks like Picasso designed it.

Ugly? Fuck no!!! Those guitars are absolutely gorgeous! Especially the one on the left. That guitar is ridiculously beautiful.

Beautiful axes right there. The left one with the larger quilt has a beautiful pattern to it. Nice man.
I do agree with an earlier comment on the EVH Wolfgang. I have a vintage white USA and it's a great guitar, but the body shape for me just doesn't have any sex appeal and the whole can opener headstock vibe is even worse. Case is a tad cheesy too IMHO, however the cheesiest fucken case award goes to my Mayones Regius custom shop Copper guitar. This guitar is a 1 off, supper cool copper topped axe, and came in the biggest piece of shit lower dollar 29$ plastic case with plastic latches I've ever seen! How could a company that makes mid to upper end custom guitars think that a buyer that is willing to spend north of 3k on a guitar is gonna be cool with it resting in a low grade plastic shitbox like that. The body shape on the Mayo is also kinda lame, but she does throw down the heaviness with conviction, and that's why she stays.

I have a Soloist Professional XL and the damn thing is light, resonates like a mutha. Plays killer! Swapped the pickups out. Great guitars for cheap. I would take my USA Soloists but damn I love that guitar. Neck is thin but kills.

My 83' Ibanez artist AR-30. It's black with a crack in the paint that runs from the bridge to the neck but killer action and intonation and the thing sounds like a les paul. It's a great player.

Definitely agree on the wolfgangs. The peaveys and EVH's. The odd shaped bodies, shortened length, and bite outta the headstock make them look really goofy. I had one of the early peavey wolfgangs. Fun guitar to play, but ultimately sold it cause I hated the look of it every time I saw my live shots.

Also those MM axis's and EVH's. They look like you have a pumpkin strapped to you...
