Sounds good. I think it rounds the Mark V a bit vs your other vid with the Redbacks + v30s. Still sounds good though. EVH has a crisper attack so not as affected.
The eminence seem to have a fairly aggressive natural scoop to them - I probably wouldn’t have scooped the V as heavily in the mids as you would typically with V30s. Both amps sound great though. 5150 seemed a little bloated in the 300Hz range but the mids sounded good. Mark V seemed to sound great but the EQ is different than what I’d probably dialed in with the speakers. Granted none of it sounded bad and the riff is a great test as well. Thanks for sharing and editing this together - both tones are fresh and solid as a rock
I think the Karnivores really helped bring the 2 amps closer tonally as the V30 is just too much upper mid with the already mid heavy Stealth. Now combine the 2 and that will probably be better than either individually. Also that fucking riff you've been holding back reminds me of some of Trey Azagoth's work! I can't wait to hear the finished product, just a riff fest. I wonder if the Mark with the V30 mixed with Stealth and the Karnivore might be the best combo. Recording guitar is addictive in its self. I am going to get my recording setup going again in the near future as my Mark VII is giving me some epic tones. Nice work, and now I have to get my hands on some Karnivores to try myself.
Yeah the plan for the next band recordings will be to blend the 100s, mark V, and my other guitar players powerball 2. We’ll see what that ends up looking like. I’ll be keeping a cab with v30s/RBs so I’ll still be able to have those sounds when needed.
