Sounds great man!!! There is a small thing missing but can't put my finger on it. Like a certain delay or reverb, etc. Or maybe the "detune" or "chorus" sound should be a bit more. Sounds really good though.
I was able to achieve a great EVH "Van Hagar" era tone with my Axe-Fx II but haven't used it in ages. I should try it out with my Friedman one of these days with just the effects.
I think it sounds great. The delay sounds about accurate to what was on the records. Maybe a little less gain but not much, as Dave Friedman says Ed liked alot of gain later on with the Peavey 5150's and EVH amps.
Are you still boosting with the Maxon OD808 in these vids? If you've ever played a 68 Plexi the low end usually is a bit loose and besides a bit of mid boost I imagine that's why Ed used the MXR 6 band to tighten up the low end. That's the way I hear it with my 68 plexi anyway and I have tried just about every iteration of early Ed tone and the MXR and Boss GE7 does it every time.
I still loved his tone with the Soldano SLO but ACEV makes that EVH 50 watter put alot of boutique stuff to shame.........
Hey ACEV have you seen this guys vids? He's using an EVH 5153 as you but is using the Eventide H9 Max for his detune, I think his detune sounds a but deeper and richer than your MD500 not that it's bad.
