Threw a couple mics on a V30 and went in RAW on this EVH 5150 III Stealth 50w. No processing on the audio, Blue and Red Channels tested, boosted and unboosted. This amp is a mean little bastard!

Definitely very similar to the rest of the EVH family, with most of the differences being EQ/Voicing related, but this one DOES have a good bit more clarity, especially in the low mids, which daddy likes.

Watched this last night, sounded great. Gonna grab one when I'm able to. This plus an FM3 or HX FX would be a killer combo!

Sounds great...cool riffs!

I've owned the EVH 50 watt and 100W, 6505, and currently have a 6505+ and to my ears the 5153 sounds nothing like the originals. I personally don't here much common ground. The 5153s to me have this cocked wah mids thing, a much different gain structure, and just different overall eq voicing all together.

Good video. Well done. I liked the tone. Where did you have the mids set on the red channel part of the video?

I agree Mike. I'd like to hear another clip with the mids dialed back a bit and the presence set around 2-3:00.

Sounds good man. Have you owned any of the 100w versions ? Ive been wanting to try the EL34 100w.. So far I had the regular 6l6 100w and the 50w , I also had the stealth 6l6 100w which for me was just to over the top in gain and compression. I play metal , very similar to the riffs you were playing. I would have liked the stealth 100w more if they didnt go so over the top on the blue channel.

I liked the regular 6l6 100w but thought the 50w version sounded small in comparison when I got it out to a reheasal with my band. At home was fine though. P.S. nice guitar, what is it ?

There's a point in the video where I dialed the mids back to around 4 and bumped the highs to compensate. This amp is bright when turned up to a decent volume so the presence that high would have been piercing with this cab

When comparing the 100w vs the 50w versions, remember that the Presence on the 50w amps is WAY more active than their 100w counterparts. Without exaggerating, on the 100w amps, the Presence is basically off until maybe 1:30 or 2:00 and doesn't really sound like it's mid-way through its sweep until about 3:30 or very slightly higher.

With the 50w amps, the Presence behaves normally and works evenly throughout the whole sweep. Having said that I do find my 50w pretty sharp with the Presence at noon and find I have to dial it back to 10:00 or 11:00 for it to sound balanced.
