Anyone owned (or at least played) both of these guitars?

I have the San Dimas, but I'm interested in the 5150, too.
(Would probably sell/trade the San Dimas for/toward the 5150).

Was wondering if anyone felt a difference in playability, tone, bridge, etc...

Thanks!

i had a 2013 SD promod. kept it for a few years and then sold it...not b/c i hated it.
I currently own the rocket red 5150...had it for not quiet a year (Christmas 2019)

My opinions:
i like them both, though i wasn't wild about the floating bridge on the SD (i know i could've blocked or whatever). the bridge on the 5150 is on the deck, which i like. they feel like very similar guitars, to me; weight, neck shape and size, etc. the fret boards are nicer looking slabs on the charvels. the 5150 is one slab of wood, if not mistaken. the frets are about the same; jumbo/x-jumbo (IIRC) I took the bridge pups out of both..put an EVH in the Charvel and had Jalen wind me one for my 5150. i guess it's a crap shoot on any guitar, especially some of the MIM stuff, but the fit/finish and particularly frets on both guitars was great...no fangs or barbed wire fret wires.

i believe the price range is comparable... and if you're in that range i don't think either guitar will let you down....just my opinion. i liked the charvel, and i like the 5150. just b/c the bridge and the "looks" i like the 5150 over the SD.

hope this helps!

Glad you asked this man because I've been interested.
