EVH cabs

So who has one? These have what's basically a Heritage Greenback correct? And are the EVH and 5150 logos easily removed? I read one guy here liked his Mark V with it more than a Mesa 4x12 or a Bogner 4x12 loaded with a variety of speakers. We all have our own tastes but if it's in that league that's good to know.

they are G12M based, not G12H30.

i have played both EVH cabs and splawns G12M copies - i prefer splawns for the more solid low end and they handle power much better. more metal based - i have played a pair of each and would say the EVH speakers from celestion are more laid back and dont take volume as well as splawns.... i would say EVH speakers for classic rock/more solo based - sweeter top end or more musical, and splawns for a better roll-off point, MUCH more solid low end, and overall more in your face. each sound really good - you would need to play both.

FWIW i am a G12M fan, not a G12H30 fan - not sure how this marks on the topic, but i dispise H30's...

they're nice sounding cabs, with nice cloth and tolex.

don't know on the logo's, they appear to have screws? hopefully no glue?

yes, they're English Greenbacks, and will be comparible to a Scummy or Weber loaded cab.


new? getting some value for the speakers since they're English, but don't think i'd buy new.

That's right, i forgot you had one. I remember being really suprised at how well that Engl cab sounded. And again, very suprised how good that OS Recto cab sounded. I'll try to come out one of these weekends.

Also Dan, last time you were at my house the EVH was loaded with K100s. I have since sold those nasty speakers. As of now, it's back to stock.

Yes, i hate those friggin K100's I only have 3 more weekends, then I'll be laying on a beach in 84 degrees of pacific sun. If i can't find time before my trip I'll have to plan something soon after.

Thats me with the mark v and the evh cabs/speakers kick all kinds of ass with every amp I have used them with. I bought them because the logos come off easy and they are all black but after playing them and comparing to several others, they are my favorite cab so far. There are a couple other cabs I still want to try someday but I'm more than satisfied with these.

I'm also going to be picking up the evh 2x12 and maybe the 1x12 when they ship this summer.

I've got one, it's a great sounding cab. Sold my Bogner 2x12 and prefer it over my Soldano quad, at one stage I had 2xGBs' and 2x V30s' in each cab and the EVH cab sounded the best to me. I've got the GBs' back in it now, using it with a 100b XTC and Marsha.

I have an EVH cab. Yes you can remove the logo. I also have 2 Splawn 4x12's and 2 Kress 4x12's (and an Ear Candy 2x12 and a Kress 2x12). I love that EVH cab. Mine all sound good but they all have different speakers in them. I had 2 Marshall and 2 Mesa 4x12's. When I got a Splawn Nitro, it sounded very flubby with those cabs. It sounds great with my current cabs including the EVH which I was not sure about until I finally tried it this weekend. Like glpg80 above, I also am not a big fan of the G12H30 but I do have the Splawn version in one cab mixed with their version of the GB (Small Blocks and Big Blocks). I also have Scumback M75's and H75's in another cab.

I loaded the EVH's in my Bogner 4x12 and sounded great with XTC and Street Rod. Shiva isn't liking it as much.

I noticed a few things, when i said Heritage Greenbacks, i meant the G12M speaker that's under the Heritage line. Celestion does, or did, make a G12M and a G12H that are both their Heritage speakers. Then there's the regular G12M and G12H30 that aren't Heritage. Is the difference that Heritage is made in England and the others CHina?

But the G12M under the Heritage line is rated at 20 watts so i guess that's the easiest way to tell which is which.
