I wanna add a floyd shredder to the arsenal.

I know this forum has a love for EVH and many of you guys own or have owned many of his products so I wanted to ask about the EVH Striped series "circles" guitar because there's a fella selling one in mint condition near me for about $500 or so. It seems like a really nice guitar for the buck.

Tell me about how they play, how does the wolfgang bridge pup compare to the newer frankenstein bridge pup, how's the quality on the floyd, pros, cons, anything on them that is a good idea to replace, and so on.

My other option is a used but in good condition Kramer FR400 for about $150 less. Decisions decisions.

Help me make a choice.

I've played them in stores and my friend had one that he bought really cheap for new. The necks felt nice, like the other Charvels. I'm not sure if they are shaped different or not? Next to a Les Paul through a Cameron CCV the Charvel sounded like a toy, maybe it just could of used a beefy humbucker maybe.

I have a Bumble Bee one and I love it. The neck is fantastic. I put a white DiMarzio AT-1 in and painted the headstock black, added a period-correct old Charvel logo to make it look just like the one on the VH II album jacket. Fantastic guitar. $500 is a very good deal. I've played several of the Circles guitars, but only ever at music stores, not at home through my own rig.

I never mentioned a Charvel though..?

Just a point of reference, they are similar. But a basswood body and I think a slightly slimer neck on the Striped. For 500 bucks you can't go wrong.

I own the red one. It's a awesome sounding guitar and looks beautiful. The neck shape is ok. I can can handle it, but would like it to be a little bit thicker and not so wide. It wider than Wolfgang neck, which I prefer the most. The neck of the striped is about 1mm thicker. As you can see not too much, but the hand feels the difference immediately.

I have the circles version of this, I was hesitant to purchase because I mostly play higher end Charvels and was worried it would look cool but never get played. I broke down finally cause that's one of my all-time favorite graphics, and reviews were pretty good on them.

Not sure about how consistent their quality is, I might have just gotten a particularly good one, but hands down one of the best bargain purchases I've made. I wouldn't confuse it for a custom shop Charvel, but the neck felt pretty comfy, frets were good on mine, and that pickup is pretty hot (by my standards) but actually sounds pretty nice to me, I haven't replaced it (was going to put a Super D in originally, but again, kind of digging this one).

No you didn't, but its the same factory and more than likely the same hands south of the boarder that are going by the spec sheet in front of them

There's already a few threads about them. Short version the EVH to me pisses all over the Charvel Art Series. And the EVH is way cheaper. Great neck too. My w/b one is flawless and the action is so low it plays itself. Effortless! Was perfect right out of the box. And I was there when the box was opened.

Pisses all over the Charvel Art series

Seriously ?

I respectfully disagree with you. Those art series, although overpriced imo, were great builds.

Thats a pretty strong conclusion.

Awesome fun guitar. Definitely worth the money I paid for it. Set up was perfect right out of the box.

Just a question - what strings are you guys using with this guitar? Mine was strung with I assume are 9s. Just curious what other strings would work on this,
